IMPORTANCE OF VASTU IN HOUSE PLANS

1.1 WHY DESIGN HOUSE PLANS AS PER VASTU?

The main advantage of a civil contractor constructing your
house with the help of an expert Architect as per the Vastu
Shastra is explained below, One can ensure that there will
be natural heating and ventilation system. The
available resources in nature should be used to the full potential
extent so that you will be free from diseases and sicknesses. One
should follow certain rules and should not follow some others to
make the most of the Vastu. You will receive maximum sunlight
and air circulation in all seasons by following the best Vastu
principles

1.2 IMPORTANCE OF VASTU IN HOUSE PLANS

It is believed that if one gets the house designed and
constructed as per Vastu, the inhabitants will enjoy great comfort
and happiness. The Vastu Sastra is based on the concentration
of cosmic energy in people’s lives so that they will succeed in
their ventures without any issues.

Sample house plans: 600 sq ft , 1200 sq ft , 2400 sq ft

VASTU PLANS

It is possible to prepare Vastu based house designs or house

plans with the help of experts in consultation with your Architect.
You can address various parameters while buying the plot
and constructing the building. The plot location, size,
directions and other requirements should be fulfilled to take care
of your needs.
8|Page DOTSUK
USAGE OF ENERGY

You will use various natural energies in a very efficient way by

following the Vastu. You will be able to utilize the energy from
the sun, moon, earth, sky, and cosmic energy to derive great
benefits. Vastu will also deal with electric, magnetic, thermal,
wind and light energy.

ADAPTING VASTU

You can use Vastu for any kind of house or room. It can be
applied while constructing special and complex structures as
well. The positioning of various articles, furniture and other
things can be implemented as per Vastu. It is meant to get peace
and prosperity in everyday life.

HOUSE ENTRANCE

To draw maximum energy from the Sun, the entrance of the

home should be on the East.

DOOR FACING

Your house will be lighted naturally with the east-facing door. If

you cannot construct your house with east-facing, you can go for
North-East facing as well.

KITCHEN POSITION

You should not locate the kitchen directly facing the main
door. As per Vastu Shastra while designing the house plans one
should give a preferred option of Kitchen in the Southeast corner.

9|Page DOTSUK
MASTER BED ROOM

The master bedroom should be located on the south-west

corner of the door. When you manage the east-facing door and
kitchen located in the South-East corner of your house, you will
feel the low noise and best air flow. Hence, you can enjoy the
best sleep in the master bedroom.

BATHROOM

The toilet location should be ideal for the health aspect as well
as in aesthetic appeal. The toilet should be located in the north-
west corner of a building. If the north-west direction is not
possible, you can go for south-east toilets.

Even though it is not possible to implement all the aspects of the

building as per the Vastu, you should be able to fulfil as many as
possible so that you can take advantage of natural light and air to
the best possible extent.

IMPORTANCE OF BAR BENDING SCHEDULE

3.1 WHAT IS BAR BENDING SCHEDULE?

BBS stands for the bar bending schedule. In this process, the
bending of reinforcing steel into different shapes required for
RCC constructions was noted. This operation is commonly done
at the site. In bar bending schedules the cut, bend, bundled and
the location of bars are readily determined.
BBS is a list of the reinforcing bars and is represented in a tabular
form. This tabular form summarizes all the particulars needed of
bars, its diameter, its shape of bending, length and its length of
each bent, bending angles, the total length of each bar and the
number of every type of bar.
The (IS: 5525) shows the different recommendations and also
make the standard length in the bar length calculation works.
The length tolerance is +- 25mm.Bar bending schedule is used
as a frame of reference by the steel fixers and then the steel
fixers can easily make of the number and kind of reinforcing bars
for a structural construction.

3.2 IMPORTANCE OF BBS

 It is very important in any RCC construction.

 The preparation of BBS helps us to determine the steel
quantity, its strength and cost estimation.
 Easy to make the billing of the construction work.
 We know the weight of the bar of different sizes required for
the RCC work.
14 | P a g e
DOTSUK
3.3 HOW TO PREPARE A BBS
Ever BBS should have the following necessary details.

1. Bar size/bar mark reference

2. Shape of bar
3. Diameter of bar
4. Spacing of bars
5. Length of bar
6. Cutting length of bars

3.4 ADVANTAGES OF BAR BENDING SCHEDULE:

1. It provides us the correct and better estimation of

reinforcement for each structural member which can be used
to determine the required reinforcement.
2. Using the bar bending schedule, it saves us 5 to 10% quantity
of steel.
3. It also reduces our construction time and the wastage of steel
and cost of steel due to the less requirement of workers for
bar bending.
4. Increases the faster execution at the site.
5. BBS can be used for the reinforcement cutting, bending of the
structural member before it can be installed at the required
position.
6. Bar bending schedule improves the accuracy of bar cutting
and bending.

3.5 PERCENTAGE OF REINFORCEMENT ACCORDING TO

CONCRETE:

RULES FOR BILLS PREPARATION

Example- prepare bill for construction of concrete partition wall having

size 10’11”x3’9” and rate of concreting is 55/sq.ft.

Solution.
Area of partition wall = 10.91 x 3.75 = 40.91 sq.ft
So, cost of construction = area x rate per sq.ft
= 40.91 x 55
= Rs 2250/-

PLASTERING WORK
Plastering work is a thin layer of mortar, applied over the
masonry and it acts as a damp-proof coat over the brick masonry
work. Plastering work also provides a finished surface over the
masonry that is firm and smooth hence it enhances the
appearance of the building. The primary objectives of plastering
are to protect the surface from atmospheric influences, to cover
the defective workmanship in masonry, to conceal porous
materials, and to provide a suitable surface for painting.

5.1 HOW TO CHECK THE PLASTERING WORK?

 Proper surface preparation must be done before

commencing the plaster work.
 The materials used for plaster should be conformed to IS
codes, and water cement ratio should be checked.
 Checking the level marks is necessary. The level marks
should be made with fresh mortar on all four walls. So that,
after plaster room size is truly square or truly rectangular.
Otherwise, when you are installing tiles for the floor, you’ll
face difficulties, and ultimately it will look ugly.
 It should be checked for the smooth surfaces and straight
edges.
 Ensure that when we found holes in brickwork for conduit
pipes, the same should be filled with cement mortar and
should be adequately cured.
 Holes made for scaffolding should also be filled correctly
and cured sufficiently because holes are the major source
of leakage or dampness in the wall as curing at such
location is always ignored.
18 | P a g e
DOTSUK
5.2 WHAT CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN AFTER COMPLETION
OF PLASTER WORK?

 Cleaning of doors or frame and floor area is necessary at

the completion of work.
 Curing should be started as soon as the plaster has
hardened sufficiently and must be cured for at least 7
days.
 Curing shall commence, 24 hours after the plaster is laid.

5.3 WHICH SAFETY EQUIPMENT TAKEN DURING THE

PLASTERING WORK?

CONCRETING WORK
Concrete is the most common building material used in today's
construction industry. It can be cast in any desired shape and
fashion and is therefore applicable for most building purposes.
Its long life and relatively low maintenance requirements add to
its popularity. Concrete does not rot, rust or decay and is
resistant to wind, water, rodents and insects. It is a non-
combustible material, making it fire resistant and able to
withstand high temperatures.
Concrete is a construction material made from a mixture of
cement, aggregate (sand or gravel), water and sometimes
admixtures in required proportions. Following are the major
steps which involved in concreting process:

STEPS IN CONCRETING:
BATCHING:
The process of measuring different concrete materials such as
cement, coarse aggregate, sand, water for the making of
concrete is known as batching. Batching can be done in two
different ways.

1. Volume Batching
2. Weight Batching.

In volume batching the measurements of concrete materials are

taken by volume & On the other hand the measurements are
taken by weight in weight batching.

23 | P a g e
DOTSUK
MIXING:
In this process, all the materials are thoroughly mixed in required
proportions until the paste shows uniform colour and
consistency. Hand mixing and machine mixing are the two
different methods of mixing.
Note: To achieve optimum quality the materials should be mixed
first in dry condition and then in wet condition.
TRANSPORTATION:
When the mixing is done properly the freshly made concrete is
then transported to the construction site, this process is known
as transportation. After that, the concrete is correctly placed on
the formworks. Concrete can be transported to the site location
in two ways

1. Manual Transportation.
2. Mechanical Transportation.

COMPACTION:
Compaction is the process in which the air bubbles are
eliminated from the freshly placed concrete. It is required to
increase the ultimate strength of concrete by enhancing the
bond with reinforcement.
CURING:
Curing is the process in which the concrete keeps its moisture
for a certain time period to complete the hydration process.
Curing should be done properly to increase the strength of
concrete. Required Curing days:
Ordinary Sulphate Resistant Cement – 8 Days.
Low Heat Cement – 14 Days.

CONCLUSION

 We have concluded that, while preparation of any building

plan the requirement of various owners are different that’s
why it is very difficult task to satisfy the requirement of
owners.
 We have concluded that, on site we must check all the
necessary detail about elements of the structure.
 All the work should be carried out with full of safety
 Sufficient knowledge about the Autocad software should be
known for preparation of various plans of buildings.
 Before concreting, we must check that all the formwork and
its correct position, if any disposition or disturb alignment of
formwork will be observed then it should be required to
correct it as far as possible.

Thank you…
