I. JOB TITLE: INFECTION CONTROL HOSPITAL COORDINATOR

II. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and supervise all activities in hospital relevant to infection control

III. SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Identify nosocomial infections

2. Investigates type of infection and infecting organism

3. Participates in outbreak investigation

4. Surveillance of hospital infections

5. Participates in training of personnel

6. Develops infection control policies and review and approval of patient care policies relevant to
infection control

7. Ensures compliance with local and national regulations

8. Serves as liaison with other departments of the hospital

9. Provides expert consultative advice to staff health and other appropriate hospital programs in
matters relating to transmission of infections

10. Acts as coordinator to all hospital staff relevant to infection control.

11. Attends professional meeting and conferences on matters related to infection control

12. Regularly monitors infection control practices and compliance of health care worker.

13. Serves as preceptor in nursing training program

14. Conduct research studies relevant to infection control program

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and supervises all activities in the hospital relevant to TB-DOTS.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Assists with the establishment of DOTS team in the hospital, facilitates functioning of the internal networks,
and supports the dissemination and implementation of the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP).

2. Assures that hospital is linked to the NTP surveillance system (i.e., the recording and reporting system)
through the Provincial Health Office

3. Facilitates the building of an effective referral system. Be a key player in sharing common goals, and
convening to various key stakeholders such as co-representatives from the hospital sector, from professional
societies, from NTP at local level, and from other relevant organizations.

4. Assists the hospital DOTS team in defaulter tracing, and assists in linking the hospital laboratory to the
laboratory quality assurance system.

5. Attends to any related activities or engagement through the PHO or DOH.


I. JOB TITLE: MOTHER BABY FRIENDLY HOSPITAL INITIATIVE COORDINATOR

II. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To help equip the hospital staff with the knowledge and skill base necessary to transform their health
facilities into baby-friendly institutions through implementation of the Ten Steps to Successful
Breastfeeding
To sustain policy and practice changes.
Coordinate and supervises all activities in hospital relevant to MBHI.

III. SPECIFIC DUTIES:


1. Educate staff on how to use communication skills to talk with pregnant women, mothers and co-
workers.

2. Introduce the concept on the Practice of the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and abide by the
International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.

3. Aid in the Discussion of pregnant woman regarding the importance of breastfeeding and outline
practices that support the initiation of breastfeeding.

4. Coach delivery room nurses on how to facilitate skin-to-skin contact and early initiation of
breastfeeding.

5. Teach and assist staff on educating mothers to learn the skills of positioning and attaching her baby
as well as the skill of hand expression.

6. Discuss with a mother how to find support for breastfeeding after she returns home.

7. Outline what needs to be discussed with a women who is not breastfeeding and know to whom to
refer this woman for further assistance with feeding her baby.

8. Identify practices that support and those that interfere with breastfeeding.

9. Work with co-workers to highlight barriers to breastfeeding and seek ways to overcome those
barriers.
12. Regularly monitors infection control practices and compliance of health care worker.
