1.6.1 Operational Definition of Terms

Agency. A business or organization established to provide a particular

service, typically one that involves organizing transactions between two other
parties.
Application Letter.A letter of application, or application letter, is a personal
letter that is typically used to apply for a job. Application letters are almost
always written from an individual to a company or organization, which means
by definition they are "personal letters" and not "business letters" as is
sometimes suggested.

Human Resource. A human resource is a single person or employee within

your organization. Human resources refer to all of the people you employ.
Human Resources staff is also responsible for advising senior staff about the
impact on people (the human resources) of their financial, planning, and
performance decisions. Managers rarely discuss the effect of their decisions
on the people in the organizations. It is often predictable that decisions are
driven by more easily measurable processes such as finance and accounting.

Applicant. An applicant is someone who signs up or applies for something.

A job applicant for example, often fills out a form and then interviews for the
position she hopes to get.

Employment. is an agreement between an employer and an employee that

the employee will provide certain services on the job.

Manpower. Manpower is defined as the total of number of individuals who

are employed in a company or available for a particular project assignment or
work. In an organization the manpower needed for a particular work and in
future is estimated and planned through different techniques available. This
concept is called manpower planning.
