The threat of a jobless recovery is still haunting us, and especially young people demand hope and opportunities.

This is why tourism can be here, once again, of great help, because tourism is something that it's difficult to
delocalise, for obvious reasons, and that creates also a lot of jobs.

President Barroso

Assalam U Alaikum. My name is Aashir Ahmed. I will be speaking in favour of Tourism. Tourism is the act of travelling
from one place or the other for purpose of entertainments and recreation. In today’s world tourism is easier than it
has been due to the wide availability of transport options. I will present my reasoning in 4 points.

1. Tourism creates demand and Development:

An industry as large as Tourism doesn’t have one contributing company. Many companies wish to excel and be part
of the mass development to attain profit. This results in greater opportunities for the tourists as they will be
presented with a vast diversity of options to choose from. This competitiveness between individual companies will
result in more activities and will be more cost-effective as Tourist will try to limit their spending on a specific set
budget.

As for development that the country will incur will be prominent in terms of increase in general standard of items
and products. More tourist attractions will be open and facilitated throughout the country and construction of high
rise hotels providing quality service to the tourists.

2. Relationship with other industries:

The eminence of Tourism has surpassed its expectations and therefore is collectively benefitting other industries
which come under its influence. Public Transport, Construction, Travel Operations, etc.

3. Creation of job opportunities:

The connection of Tourism with such industries means overall growth of the industries which results in opportunities
for employment. People who are least likely to find jobs in normal circumstance, who are generally unskilled will
have an opportunity as they can pursue roles as Taxi Drivers, Tourist guides etc. that require very low skill that can
be earned in a short period of time. While on the other hand skilled workers will find better opportunities and their
demand will increase, and so will their perks. In 2018, the Travel & Tourism sector experienced 3.9% growth,
outpacing that of the global economy (3.2%) for the eighth consecutive year. Over the past five years, one in five
jobs were created by the sector, making Travel & Tourism the best partner for governments to generate
employment.

After giving you a detailed reasoning allow me to finish off with an example. Maldives, a Country Island located in
the Indian Oceans attains $2 billion from tourism each year which makes up 42.1% of its overall revenue generated.

In a nutshell, Tourism either directly or indirectly benefits the country’s economy as a whole if it is done in a
sustainable way. Thank you.
