Ph.D. Program in Yogic Science
The goals of the Ph.D. programs at Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (HSGVV), Sagar are:

1. To develop academic, scientific and technical manpower of highest quality.

2. To cater to the needs of educational institutions, R & D organizations, society & industry.

3. Broad grasp of the fundamental principles of research and innovative methods.

4. Deep understanding of the area of specializations and ability to solve new problems.

5. Capacity to learn continually and interact with multidisciplinary groups.

6. Above all, the students should have a capacity for free and objective enquiry, courage and integrity,
awareness and sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of society.

Course Work and Research Work


A research scholar registered will have to pass one year (Two Semesters) course work followed by two years
research work. The candidate must pass the course with 6.5 CPI before taking of Comprehensive Examination
and Seminar failing which the candidate’s name will be deleted from the list of registered scholar after giving
him/her two chances to pass the said course. Maximum time for completing the research program will be Five
Years including one year extension.

The credits requirements for the Ph.D. program will be as follows:

Minimum Total Credits: 80

 Credits through course work each Semester Minimum = 24


 4 Courses X 4 Credits = 16 Credits through course work
+ 08 Credits from research work each semester

Total Course work Credits = 48 Credits in two semester

 Credits through Research (minimum) = 32 after two Semesters


 Minimum number of Courses = 06
 Minimum Residence = 05 Semester
 Maximum Duration = 6 years
