streams, whose compositions (in molar percentage) are defined below:

c) Identify and write down the value of the following points:

b) Show the phase envelope for a gas quality of 0,95 and 0,8.

c) Show the hydrate formation line

d) Explain in detail the type of reservoir associated to each gas stream (lean gas, dry
gas, volatile oil?)

2. SINGLE STAGE COMPRESSION

Part 1
It is required to compress natural gas from 60 psig to 1.300 psig. Gas composition and
conditions at the suction are stated below:
Compressor outlet gas is cooled to 43 ºC. Compressor adiabatic efficiency is 75% and
the pressure drop through the cooler is 30 psi.

a) Complete the table

Suction actual flowrate, acfm

Compressor discharge temperature, ºF
Compressor adiabatic head, ft
Compressor power, HP
Cooler duty, MMBtu/h
Gas at the discharge of the compression Flowrate, MMscfd Molecular
plant Weight

b) Show the hydrate formation line for inlet and outlet streamline

Part 2
Add a connection to allow the recirculation of the recovered liquid in the second
separator towards the first separator.
c) Complete the table

3. COMPRESSION TRAIN
Part 1
Compare the single stage compression with the multistage compression. For it, the gas
of the previous exercise will be compressed from the same initial condition to the same
final condition, using a three stages compression scheme.

As in the previous exercise, the outlet gas of each stage is cooled to 43 ºC. Pressure
drop in each stage is 10 psi. Liquid recovered in each K.O. drum is recycled to the
previous stage.

a) Complete the table

b) Complete the table

Part 2
c) Evaluate the effect of changes in the interstage temperature on the compressor
power for the conditions of part 1. Prepare a Power (HP) vs Temperature graph
in the range of of 80°F to 140°F.
