1. Background

Grameen Foundation
Grameen Foundation is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to enabling the poor, specially
women, to create a world without poverty and hunger. Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) is
essential to achieving this mission. At Grameen Foundation, we believe that an economic
breakthrough for a woman translates to an economic breakthrough for her household and her
community. We therefore use our expertise, partnerships and digital technology to connect poor rural
women and their households to essential financial, health and agricultural products and services. At
the same time, we pay attention to the larger context of women’s lives by building empowering
ecosystems that support women’s breakthroughs against poverty and hunger. This holistic approach
expands opportunities for women, their families and larger society.

WomenLink Philippines
WomenLink Philippines builds on the learnings from Grameen’s Community Agent Network and Digital
Financial Capability Community Outreach in the Philippines. WomenLink aims to catalyze economic
empowerment through the breakthrough use of Digital Financial Services (DFS) among poor and
low-income women. The program is set to optimize delivery processes and add financial education
through SMS, along with other mechanisms, to expand the adoption and appropriate use of DFS.
