Mohammad Ali, I have been observing you and noticed that you showing a lot of interest in art

activities recently. Repeatedly you do drawing, colouring, painting, cutting and pasting. You are
trying very hard to learn to write your name as well.
The other day you were involved in painting activities that teacher Nur set up. You tried to create
a butterfly using your finger instead of paint brush. Later I have noticed that you were drawing a
butterfly using the white board and marker.
Noticing your interest in butterfly I set up an activity next day ‘Let’s make a butterfly’, sometimes
we call it ‘See the double’. When everything was ready I demonstrated how to do it. I was
pleased to see you followed my instructions – fold the paper in half, open it, put different
coloured paints in one side, fold again, press over the paper with your hands, let the paints
spread around inside the folded paper. When you opened it you were surprised and happy to see
your creation. You decided to repeat this process a few times.
An-Nur learning environment is full of ‘Motives of activities’ which the children can repeat over
and over until gaining mastery of the activity. At the same time children develop concentration,
hand -eye co-ordination and hand movement. Also promote self confidence and independence.

Learning Happening
It tells me that through these art
experience Mohammad Ali was
learning to be creative. He is
developing fine motor co-
ordination, concentration, also
extending imagination and
creativity.
What’s next?
In sha Allah we will ensure that
Mohammad Ali gets enough
opportunities to extend his
creativity skills further.
Te Whariki says, “Children will experience an environment Written by- Teacher Rosy,
in which they discover different ways to be creative and October, 2019
expressive”
