SESSION TITLE: MELODY


DAY 1, SESSION 1

No. of Participants: 50-60 Grade I Teachers

Duration: 120 minutes

Terminal Objective: demonstrate basic understanding of pitch and simple melodic patterns.

Enabling Objectives: At the end of the session, participants should be able to:
1. Define melody.
2. Differentiate a high or a low tone.
3. Sings/play simple melodic patterns using the so-fa syllables.

Key Understanding: Melody is a succession of phrases making a whole span of music. It is a a series of single tones (pitches) that add up to a
recognizable whole.

3. Understanding Grand Staff
4. Presentation of So-Fa Syllables.

APPLICATION:
Activity: DRAW ME!
Participants will be divided into 5 groups. Slide Decks 10 minutes
Instructions:
1. Draw a keyboard on a piece of bond paper.
Use a color and place it on a keys on the
correct melody stated by the Teacher.

After the activity: Ask the following questions:


1. Where you able to place all symbols in correct
keys?
2. What made you accomplish the task?

CLOSURE:
Close the session by sharing a bible verse from
Galatians 6:9.
“And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due
season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
