Time Duration: 1 hour
Session Title: Visual Information and Media: Images and Graphics

CONTENT STANDARD:

The learner demonstrates understanding of different resources of media and information, their
design principle and elements, and selection criteria.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:

The learner produces a living museum or electronic portfolio or any other creative forms of
multimedia showcasing their/his/her understanding insights, and perceptions of the different resources of
media and information.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES:

1. Evaluates the reliability and validity of visual information and media and its/their
sources using selection criteria
2. Produces and evaluates a creative visual-based presentation using design principle
and elements

SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:

1. Identify the different dimensions of visual media and information


2. Explain the design principle and elements of visual media and information
3. Create a presentation promoting a local tourism spot which is visual in nature using
design principle and elements which can be used in an information drive campaign of
the city tourism office

MATERIALS: LCD Projector, computer/laptop, pictures, masking tape, speaker

PROCEDURE

I. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES (5 mins)

GAME. The teacher will group the students into two. They will play a game by answering
questions in different categories about text and information media. The group who got the highest
score will be the winner.

II. ACTIVITY (10 minutes)

Activity 1 JOIN ME TOGETHER

Directions: Group yourselves with 5 members. Arrange the jigsaw puzzle to reveal the picture. The
first group to be able to post the picture on the board will be the winner. Discuss with your group about the
picture by answering the guide questions. Select a representative to share your ideas in one to two
minutes.

2. How do you describe the characteristics of this visual media?

DIRECTIONS: Group yourselves into 5 members. Based from the video presented, identify and explain
the design principles and elements manifested in the picture assigned to your group. Select a
representative to share your answer in 1-2 minutes.

APPLICATION (18 mins)

Directions: Perform the given task in GRASPS.

Goal: Your goal is to promote a local tourist destination using a presentation which is
predominantly visual so that the audience would get attracted to visit the place
Role: You are the City/Municipal Tourism Officer
Audience: Local and international tourists who are not familiar with the place
Situation: You are the City/Municipal Tourism Officer who is on the campaign to boost the tourism
industry of the locality
Product: A creative visual presentation promoting the local tourist spots using any software of your
choice (MS Powerpoint, Prezi, etc.) consists of not less than 5 slides.
Standards: Evaluate your own instructional material if it follows the design principle and elements of
a graphics media. The output will be rated according to the criteria stated in a given
Rubric.

ASSIGNMENT (2 mins)

Visit websites of other provinces/cities promoting their tourist destinations. Give comments on
how the information has been presented based on the design principles of visual information and media.

Your critique must not be less than 500 words and must be encoded and saved on any file
formats of your choice.
