CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. BACKGROUND
The curriculum shall provide a continuum in each core content area as the basis
for the development of perceiving, thinking, and problem solving skills. In this curriculum
continuum, the student moves from concrete experiences to increasingly more complex
levels of abstraction in critical thinking. Skills related to each area should be built upon
previous learning and measurable performance objectives.
Since students come from a variety of educational backgrounds, effort should be
made to identify the instructional level of each student in relation to the subject
continuum, including alternative instruction, if necessary,
which will motivate the pupil to achieve at an optimum level.
Through a balanced curricular and co-curricular program, there will be continuing
emphasis on the spiritual, academic, social, aesthetic, and physical development of
students. Students will be helped to develop a personal identity based on a proper
understanding and acceptance of themselves as unique individuals, created in the
image of God.
The ultimate purpose of program is to provide a curriculum that balances and
facilitates the student's spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth so
that students can glorify God. This comes from providing opportunities to integrate
Biblical truth with educational knowledge and apply the synthesis to life situations.

3. Add insight into the field of learning, knowledge and understanding the ELT
curriculum.

C. WRITING BENEFITS
With the completion of this paper, there will be several benefits, including:
1. Can be used as a reading source for readers,
2. Can expand knowledge

D. DATA COLLECTION METHOD

Data is a vital tool in the formation of a paper so in the preparation of this paper we
collected data by several methods, including:

1. Journal media search method

That's how data collection uses additional reading material from several journals that
provide information to fill in is still lacking to complete the paper.

2. Web media search method

Namely by searching in the media websiate some references that help in making
supporting papers.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION

A. DEFINITION OF CURRICULUM
In education, a curriculum (/kəˈrɪkjʊləm/; plural: curricula /kəˈrɪkjʊlə/ or curriculums) is
broadly defined as the totality of student experiences that occur in the educational process.
The term often refers specifically to a planned sequence of instruction, or to a view of the
student's experiences in terms of the educator's or school's instructional goals. In a 2003 study,
Reys, Reys, Lapan, Holliday, and Wasman refer to curriculum as a set of learning goals
articulated across grades that outline the intended mathematics content and process goals at
particular points in time throughout the K–12 school program. Curriculum may incorporate the
planned interaction of pupils with instructional content, materials, resources, and processes for
evaluating the attainment of educational objectives. Curriculum is split into several categories:
the explicit, the implicit (including the hidden), the excluded, and the extracurricular.
Curricula may be tightly standardized, or may include a high level of instructor or learner
autonomy.[8] Many countries have national curricula in primary and secondary education, such
as the United Kingdom's National Curriculum. UNESCO's International Bureau of Education has
the primary mission of studying curricula and their implementation worldwide.

A. CONCLUSION

Based on the information we collect about the importance of learning English in

elementary schools, it can be concluded that:

English education is needed at the elementary school level, because the era of
globalization Demand to "international right" all the elements.
because that has become the international language of English, the obligation of all
parties to provide learning English early on, but that does not mean leaving the national
language.

With thanksgiving presence of God Almighty, who has created various types of
creatures that seemed glory. So with this experience hopefully can add to science,
knowledge, experience unforgettable and new insights, and makes the information for
