Ashtaka Varga is the combination of the good and bad positions of seven Grahas and Lagna with
reference to the Chandra Lagna and it is the combination of the benefic and malefic marks (the Rekhas
and the Bindus);

Step:01:
The transitory effects of the twelve Bhavas are judged from the Chandra Lagna . Accordingly Among the
12 places /houses of the zodiac reckoned from the place /house occupied by the janma lagna or the
house occupied by the moon at the time of birth:

Firstly, the auspicious / (Good) places occupied by the Eight Grahas [seven Grahas, and the lagna] and
Secondly, the inauspicious / (Bad) places occupied by the Eight Grahas [seven Grahas and the lagna]
during transit is to be marked separately.

Firstly prepare a table containing 10 column and 12 lines. In the table so prepared, the auspicious places
occupied by the from Eight Grahas [seven Grahas, and the lagna] should be marked by Rekhas (Lines);
and the inauspicious places occupied by the from Eight Grahas [seven Grahas, and the lagna] should
be marked by Zero (bindus); In the same manner prepare theashtakavarga table chart for all the 12
grahas and the lagna.
