Description
The 12V 3A switching battery charger is designed as a quick fix charger for 12V lead acid free batteries.
When the battery voltage falls under the initial charge threshold the charge cycle starts; the cycle ends when
the battery is completely charged. Once the battery is charged, the device goes into stand-by mode until it is
needed again. At which point a new charge cycle starts.
A microprocessor monitors the charge current and voltage; it sets the value based on the battery voltage
attained during charging.
There is a timer on the device that allows any battery fault to be managed safely during the charge phase. If
the battery is not fully charged within the set time limit there is an alarm and the charge is stopped. The
battery must be disconnected and then reconnected to reset this alarm. This function protects against long
charges that can lead to dangerous overheating and the development of explosive gases, especially when
the battery has reached the end of its life cycle or has internal short circuits.
Through two different coloured LEDs it is possible to monitor the battery charger’s operation. Furthermore,
via its connection with the Guard Evolution automatic card, the battery charger’s information can be seen on
the display as a text message and in numerical values.
