Concept  Art is human activity that translates life and the world into
Guide something aesthetically pleasing. The Filipino identity in art is not
only a question that Filipino scholars have debated on over the
years. This doubt on authenticity is caused by our colonial past and
migration. The subject and medium are factors that contribute to
the “Filipino-ness” of an art work. Also, the work of art should
represent the subject in the most realistic way possible “without
idealizing” it. As times are changing and the world is becoming
borderless, Philippine art struggles, yet it rises to show the world
what and how the Filipino spirit is.
 A. Picture (Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, and Photography)- This
is a two-dimensional image of various subjects ranging from the
real-life images to the visually abstract.
B. Sculpture- This is a three-dimensional artwork that may be
created using stonr, marble, wood, and concrete.
C. Architecture- These are structures that meant to be used as
shelter.
D. Music- This is the art form that appeals to the sense of hearing.
E. Literature- This is the art form of language through the combined
use of words, creating meaning and experience.
F. Theater- This is the art form of performance. Dramatic texts are
portrayed on stage by actors and actresses and are enhanced by
props, lights, and sounds.
G. Cinema- This art form is a technological translation of theatre.
H. Dance- This is the art of the human form. The body is used,
mobilized, and choreographed in a specific time, form, and space.
Teaching Activity #1: Picture!Picture
Procedure
and Procedure: The teacher will present two paintings by Fernando
Engaging Amorsolo and Leonardo Da Vinci. The students are task to

Activity #2: Word War

Procedure: The teacher will group the class into two. Each group
will guess the scrambled letters that will be presented by the
teacher. (This activity will reveal the different forms of art.)

Activity #3: Arts and Design

Procedure: The students are task to choose a subject in their


community that they would like to represent in any art form (visual,
performance, or literary). They need to create their art form
without “idealizing” it.

Directions: Research on some of the popular visual arts/paintings
and create a reflection that shows how those arts influence the lives
of the Filipinos before.
