My essay will attempt to answer whether climate change is having an effect on

our planet. I want to not only know all of the effects climate change has had our planet

but also all of the future effects as well. I also want to know the effects climate change

has had on human health, as well as our planet. If so, what are some of the worst effects?

And out of those effects, which ones will have the worst affects in the future?

“Climate Change Impacts.” Climate Change Impacts | National Oceanic and

Atmospheric Administration, www.noaa.gov/education/resource-

collections/climate-education-resources/climate-change-impacts.

The NOAA wrote this article, “Climate Change Impacts,” In this article, the

author(s) use proven facts and examples to prove the effects climate change is having on

our Earth. This article explains how climate change not only has effects on our

atmosphere and temperature, but also on our oceans. Specifically, the ocean absorbs

about 30% of the carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere from burning fossil

fuels. As a result of this process, the ocean has become more acidic and is affecting

marine life.

The purpose of this article was to prove the effects climate change is having on

our Earth. The author uses specific examples from proven research to support the overall
main idea. The audience of this essay could be anyone interested on the effects of climate

change.

This article was written by researchers from the National Oceanic and

Atmospheric Administration, therefore this article is credible. Another reason this article

is credible is because all of the information provided has been scientifically proven and

researched.

I will be using this article to support my overall claim of the effects climate

change is having on our planet. More specifically, this article supports how climate

change is having effects on not only our weather and atmosphere, but also the oceans and

marine life in the oceans.

Frazee, Gretchen. “Is Climate Change Making Hurricanes Stall?” PBS, Public

Broadcasting Service, 4 Sept. 2019,

uses specific examples and information to investigate the effects climate change is having

on the stalling of hurricanes. This article explains the connection between hurricane

stalling and climate change by explaining scientific experiments and research. One

experiment shows how increased sea levels - due to melting glaciers heat driven ocean

expansion- creates higher storm surges. These higher storm surges create slower, more

intense storms.

The author’s purpose of this article was to prove the connection between

hurricane stalling and climate change. By providing proven information, this article
makes the reader realize the reality of this connection. This article was published recently

so the information is relevant to readers. The audience of this article could be anyone

This article, “Climate Change Is Having Widespread Health Impacts,” was

written by Emily Holden and published on September 16, 2019. In this article, the author

uses specific examples and quotations from researchers to explain the effects climate

change is having on humans. One of the ideas the author uses to support her main claim

is how seasonal allergies have gotten significantly worse over the years. As temperature

rises, plants produce greater amounts of pollen for longer periods of time, therefore

intensifying allergy seasons.

The author’s purpose of this article was to prove the effects climate change is

having on humans. The author uses very relatable examples, like allergies, to try and

connect to the readers.

The author of this article is Emily Holden. This author is credible because she

uses very credible sources to support her main ideas. This article is credible because it

was published recently so that proves that the information is relevant in our lives.

I plan to use this article to support my main topic of climate change. More

specifically, this article provides credible information to support how climate change has

effects on human health.

Orlowski, Jeff, director. Moyers & Company: Chasing Ice. Bill Moyers, 2012.

This source is a documentary that was directed by Jeff Orlowski in 2012. This

documentary is centered around the story of James Balog, an environmental

photographer, who travels the world taking pictures to tell the story of the Earth’s climate

change. The main focus of these images is in the arctic. Balog captures pictures of the

effects that climate change is having on the arctic. Specifically, the melting glaciers and

different species of animal life.

The director’s purpose of this documentary was to bring attention to this crisis.

Many people don’t believe in climate change so the director wanted to show real life

pictures to prove the reality of this crisis. Balog uses his images to try to influence the

audience into taking action on climate change.

This documentary is credible because is shows images and videos of the arctic.

The video is raw evidence of the effects of climate change. Because the evidence is real,

it is a very credible source.

I will use this documentary to support my main claim that climate change is

having bad effects on our planet. This documentary shows real life examples of these

effects.

Qin, Amy. “Air Pollution Is Linked to Miscarriages in China, Study Finds.” The New

York Times, 14 Oct. 2019, https://www.nytimes.com/2 019/10/14/world/asia/china-

air- pollution-miscarriages-study.html.

This article, “Air Pollution Is Linked to Miscarriages in China,” was written by

Amy Qin and published on October 14, 2019. In this article, the author uses specific

examples and research to prove the effects climate change has on human health. Some of

the research used in the article shows that a large percentage of pregnant women’s

miscarriages due to their exposure to at home at work to air pollution that comes from

industries, households, cars, and trucks.

The author’s purpose of this article was to prove to her audience that climate

change is having effects on not only our planet but also our bodies. Specifically, the

author uses women’s miscarriages as her main idea. The author uses proven research

done in China, to support her claim and argument.

This article is a credible source because of the information it holds. All of the

research done for this essay has been clinically proven by scientists that the author cites.

This article was also published on a well-known, credible source.

I will be using this article as support in my essay because it will support my main
