Foreword
When I first got interested in Tarot I tried to do it the traditional way and I find that too
tedious. Every deck is different and trying to follow the intended interpretation of each
card just does not make sense to me. Enough to say that I don’t like to do things the
traditional way. I find that reading Tarot cards intuitively is much easier and more
rewarding. Everything is energy. Focus on the interpreting the energy of an
event/person and use Tarot cards as a visual aid to help you connect with the flow of
energy. When you follow the energy of an event/person you are privy to the past
present and future of the event/person. Bare in mind that energy is fluid and changes
faster then the blink of an eye. When you follow energy you can only follow what is
presented in the moment. Be in the moment and know that you and your client can
only create in the moment. There is no such thing as destiny when you seize the
moment to create what you want. Free will always trump destiny.
I LOVE teaching this, because it is the first step on the way to becoming a conscious
being. Knowing how to read energy, paying attention to the
messages that subtle energy is communicating to us all the
time is an awesome tool to living consciously. You can use this tool for
more then just living consciously of cause. Have fun with it. It is a great ice
breaker at parties. I know cause that was how I began. Years ago whenever friends
invited me to dinner I would bring a deck of cards with me and I would do readings for
them between dinner and dessert. We have a blast. Nowadays, I charge good money to
do readings in private or at parties. I still have a blast doing this and they pay me!
My point is you have an ebook in your hands that you can
use to create hours of fun and/or tons of money and that is
my GIFT to You. While you are on your way to loads of fun and abundance you
may get enlightened too if you so wish. And that is my GIFT to you too.

Light and love you lucky duck.

Believes of a Successful Card Reader
It is my believe that anyone can intuitively read energy and therefore anyone
can read cards. We are all born with intuitive abilities. It is nature’s way of
increasing our survival rate. Every child have a natural ability to sense
energy. They will naturally gravitate towards nurturing energy and away
from harmful energy. Children will start to loose these extra senses when they start
school or when they are in an environment that discourage these extra senses. For most
kids this happen around the age of 5. So depending on how old you are right now, you
have been conditioned by your environment to disown your extra senses for your age
minus 5 years. You are now on a course that will peel back all those years of
conditioning. Be patient with yourself if you don’t believe you can do this right now.
Remember to have fun with this and know that your intuitive abilities can never be
conditioned out of you entirely. It is genetically coded in you just like the color of your
eyes. It will come back all in good time.

Whatever shows up during a reading is relevant to the reading. For example, if

your throat dries up while you are reading for a client that is a clue for you
about the client. Perhaps they are having issues with speaking up for
themselves or perhaps they have some thyroid issue. Pay attention to
everything that shows up during a reading.

We are here to learn the lessons of life. No matter what fate has installed for
the client you are reading for it is there for the purpose of his/her learning.
The more conscious your client is of their own lessons, the more your client is
inclined to learn the lessons and transmute fate into fortune. Your job is to be
the light for them on their journey.

Everything is energy and energy is never wrong. How you interpret the energy
that shows up is the only thing that can go wrong. The best way to fine tune
your interpretation is to clean up your own issues. Get your ego out of the way
and ask yourself this question - what is the lesson that this client has the
opportunity to learn right now? Whatever answer you get from this question is
good information.

Scope of Practice
Let your client know that the card reading you are doing is for fun and entertainment.
What I have given you in this ebook will most likely be all you’ll need if you keep
your readings fun and entertaining. Intuitive readings can be for more then
entertainment of course and that is beyond the scope of this ebook.

DO NOT attempt to do therapy with your client unless you are licensed to do so. You
can get into serious trouble if you practice without a license. Beyond legal
considerations, I belief we have a moral responsibility to educate and prepare
ourselves before we try to get into someone else’s mind. Take this moral responsibility
seriously and DO NOT be tempted to practice beyond your scope of expertise.

When you come across a client with problems and situations beyond your skill set
refer them to some one who can help them. Cultivate a team of experts whom you
trust and refer to them for backup. The up-side is that you can set up a reciprocal
relationship with them. I suggest to cultivate experts in the following areas:
Healing physical illnesses
Financial issues
Relationship issues
Spiritual issues

Preparation For A Reading
Prepare yourself before you do a reading. The first thing to prepare for is to get a deck
of cards. Even though this method of doing a reading is intuitive it helps if you feel
comfortable with the cards you use. Pick a deck of cards that feels good and resonate
with you. I use Thoth the deck designed by Crowley and the Shape Shifter’s deck
most often. I pick these because they are visually stimulating for me. When you have
mastered this method of card interpretation you can read with any deck and you can
even read without a deck. A deck of cards is just the trigger to your unconscious mind
to pick up on the underlying energy. When you are tuned into your unconscious mind
you can trigger it by whatever is available and convenient. You can pick up a
magazine, look up at the clouds, i.e. pick any image selected at random and do a
reading. It’s not about the cards, it’s about tuning into the energy of your client.

Look over the believes on the preceding page and integrate them into your practice.
You may want to add to this list as you have more experience with doing readings.
Apart from integrating these believes, the best way to prepare yourself for a reading is
to free your mind from whatever is consuming you in your life right now. Detach
yourself from your stories and devote your whole being to your client for the duration
you are with them.

When you meet with your client in a one-on-one reading the first thing is to bond with
your client. Ask them for their name and tell them something about yourself, for
example what kind of experience you have had doing readings, what is your approach
to card reading, mention some of the believes that I’ve outlined etc…. Ask them
whether they have had a reading before and follow your client’s queue on whether they
want to chit chat for a while before going into the reading. Be mindful to keep the
bonding time to no more then 10 to 15 % of the time you have to spend with them.
The time you spend bonding with your client will make the rest of your meeting much
smoother because your client will feel comfortable with you and more incline to be
open to what you have to say thereafter. If you are doing readings at a party set your
intention to bond with everyone you meet there even before you arrive at the party.

Intuitive Card Reading by Winnie Lui © 2011

esi-coach.com
Structure of a Reading
After some bonding moments with your client settle into doing a reading. Ask for their
name again and write it out. If in doubt have them spell it out for you. Let your client
know how you are going to do the reading and what to expect i.e. you do readings
intuitively, there are 3 parts to a reading etc….

There are 3 parts to a reading:

Open sacred space

The actual reading
Check in with your client

Open Sacred Space

Doing a reading is a sacred act. That is my belief. I can give you a long winded
discourse on why it is so but I am not going to. If you agree with me then follow my
suggestions on the next page and if you don’t that is also great. I do want to mention
the Law of Entanglement since you are definitely entangled with your client when
you do a reading for them. This Law states that when 2 (or more) events/things/people
meet, those two will continue to influence each other even after they separate
according to the dynamics set up at the moment of contact. Proper and full
understanding of this law is the secret behind the secret and beyond the scope of this
ebook.

You can benefit from this Law without understanding it fully. Use this Law in your
favor by setting up your intention for the reading before you meet with your client.
Your intention is part of the “dynamics” of your meeting. Set up your intention to be
for the highest good of the client and the universe. This is the best possible intention
to have. Opening sacred space is just a ritual for setting up the dynamics. So if
opening sacred space does not resonate with you then simply set up your intention to
be for the highest good of your client and the universe without any of the spiritual
mumbo jumbo. Your client won’t care how much you know until they know how
much you care. Set up your intention to be completely in service to your client and the
universe and they will reward you long after the reading is over.

Intuitive Card Reading by Winnie Lui © 2011

esi-coach.com
Sacred Space
On with those who like the idea of setting up sacred space. How you want to do this is
entirely up to you. You can light up some incense or candle. You can call on the four
directions, do a ritual dance and drum. You can say a simple prayer or you can just
keep the intention of creating a sacred space in mind. Make your client feel
comfortable by explaining to them what you are doing. Ask for their permission to
open sacred space and encourage them to invoke the archangels, deities or ascended
masters of their choice if they are open to it. If you are concerned about what your
client may think, get over it. Your client came for a reading not a medical check up.
You have some leeway to set up the atmosphere so that you can be at your best when
you do their reading. On the other hand, if they are uncomfortable with the idea of
setting up sacred space don’t force it down their throat. Let them know that your
belief is a little different and that you would be saying a short prayer in silence.
Personally, when a client comes to me for a reading I have my sacred space set up
using Huna symbols long before they arrive and I will say a short prayer with them to
let them in on the sacred space. When I go to a client’s place for a one-on-one reading
I’ll set up the sacred space with intention before I leave my house. I would still say a
short prayer in the presence of the client. When I do readings at a party though, I
would open sacred space with intention before I leave to go to the party and skip
mentioning the sacred space altogether. Party readings are usually short 15 minute
readings so I do what I can to streamline the process.

I have included a simple prayer below for your reference. I suggest you use a simple
prayer and say it out loud so that your client is in on the creation of the sacred space.

I invoke light and love, peace and joy. I welcome in the Holy Spirit. Please hold this
sacred space for us to do this reading in the highest good of _(your client’s name)_
and for the highest good of the universe.

Doing A Tarot Card Reading
The Actual Reading

Allow a moment of silence after the creation of the sacred space to feel the space
energetically. You may want to ask for their date of birth and do a Life Path Number
reading for them to begin with. The LPN reading is a short pre-reading that will tell
you the lessons your client is here to learn this life time. This short pre-reading will
give you an opportunity to tune into the energy of your client and build up more
rapport with him/her. All of these information will help you tremendously when you
start to read their cards. This is optional of course and you may not want to do this if
you have limited time or when you have a repeat customer. I would usually start with
an LPN reading if the client seem scattered and directionless. That is they have no
idea what they want out of the reading or if they seem defensive and paranoid. These
are good queues that it’s best to do the LPN first to see if the LPN will give you some
clue as to why your client is the way they are. You can also do the LPN for the client
during a card reading if you are not sure what message the cards is trying to convey.
LPN is based on their birthday and it is a bit more structured then doing a reading from
cards. When in doubt, do the LPN. The process for doing the LPN is laid out from
page ? To ?.

Ask your client whether they have any particular questions or any specific area of their
life they want you to focus on. If they don’t have any questions or any special interest
area then just do a general reading.

If they have questions, get them to ask the most important question first. Listen to the
question(s) carefully and make sure you understand what they are really asking. Ask
for clarification if you are not sure. When you understand their question and why they
ask that question, get them to shuffle the cards while they are thinking about their
question. I usually say to them to shuffle the cards while keeping their question in
mind and shuffle until they feel it’s time to stop. While they are shuffling notice what
thoughts come into your mind. What sensation do you feel in your body? Trust that
whatever shows up is relevant. Let go of any attachment to what may or may not
happen during this reading.

How to Interpret Tarot Cards
When they are done shuffling get the deck of cards back and draw 3 cards from the top
of the deck. The first card is about the current situation. The second card gives you
what happened in the past that created the present situation and the third card is the
most likely out come of the situation.

Look at each of the 3 cards individually then collectively. When you look at a card or
any image, you naturally focus on different elements of the image. For example when
you meet someone, you will look at their eyes, then their lips, their hair, their chest.
Your attention would move from one place to another. It will zoom in to one particular
element like their eyes and then zoom out to take in the whole person, then zoom back
in to focus in on their lips etc…. When you look at a card, notice which element drew
your attention first and what feelings that element evoke in you. An element can be a
recognizable form like a tree, or a geometrical pattern like a triangle or a color like
green. Notice what overall feeling the card gives you. Does it give you a positive
feeling or do you feel a lump in your stomach? Do this for each of the cards and then
look at the 3 as a whole. Notice any common themes or elements between them.
Notice the progression of the elements of the cards. For example, if there is a tree in
the first card and a tree in the last card then notice the difference and similarities in the
trees between these cards. Look for the contrast and progression of the elements and
this will give you a clue to the progression of the movement of energy relating to the
answer to your client’s question or situation. For example, the tree in the first card
may be small and has no leave. If the tree in the last card is strong and fully filled out
you know that this represents an improvement of the situation. If the element is a
color like green, notice what feeling that shade of green evokes in you. Notice the
color green in the other cards and most likely they will be a different shade of green
which will evoke a different feeling in you. Don’t try to make sense of all the
elements just follow the ones that attract your attention. Notice what elements you are
attracted to first and go with that. Go for the gut feeling interpretation and don’t over
analyze.

When you have a bit of time to notice the flow of the energy, start to make up a story
in your mind from the inspiration you get from those cards. Share the story with your
client and notice the impact the message has on the client. If your client is troubled by
the outcome remind them that they always have free will over fate. You may also want
to ask them to draw another card, a resource card, that will give them a clue to what
they can do or what they need to learn to help them out of a tough spot. When you are
both satisfy with this question, go on to the next one and repeat this process.

An Example of Card Interpretation
Let me give you an example to illustrate card interpretation. I asked about the
outcome of this ebook and drew three cards using my Shapeshifter’s deck. The first
card is the 4 of Cups - Decadence, the second card is the major arcana card 6 - Lovers
and the third card is the 3 of Pentales - Mastery.

The first card is about the current situation and what attracted me in the first card is the
bright burst of golden light in the upper middle of the image. As I look more closely
there is a golden dragon coming towards the sleepy seals and people in the fore
ground. This card evokes in me the sense that there is a burst of primordial and
mythical energy coming to wake up and shake up a situation.

The second card represents the energy that leads up to the first card. Looking at the
Lovers card what struck me most is the duality within the image. It evokes a sense of
something that is not integrated even though there have been obvious attempt towards
integration.

The third card is the outcome. There is a tree in this card that dominates my attention.
It is an oak tree standing strong, filled with leaves and with acorns falling off it.
Contrasting this tree with the tree in the previous card which has almost lost all of its
leaves, this gave me a sense that the outcome is definitely fruitful. In the fore ground
there is a water nymph morphing into what looked like a bear or vice versa. This
element gave me a sense of integration, of some things coming together after a
laborious process. The water element in this image is alive and supportive. Looking
back at the water element in the first card which looks dead and barely present. I think
you get the idea that there is an unmistakable sense of accomplishment and success in
this card.

This is the story that if I were doing a reading for a client I would say:
You have been struggling to integrate two opposing or seemingly incompatible ideas
together for some time now. Recently a powerful and brilliant idea or opportunity
came along that help you shift and shake your perspective. This recent event gave you
a new direction to go which will result in a generous reward for your efforts. More
then rewards, this new opportunity helps you integrate your previously incompatible
ideas and set you up for growth and stability for the future.

Follow the Energy
I would like to point out a few things regarding the example on the previous page.
Even though there are numbers and words associated with each of the three Tarot
cards, I did not do my reading according to them. These are extra information that
may some times be confusing. I suggest that you focus only on what attracts your eyes
first. Different questions and different clients will trigger you to notice different
elements. I remember one time during a workshop, I have with me 5 different decks of
cards. I did an experiment with a student’s question and used all 5 decks to answer the
same question. The cards she drew from each deck were different but the general
message conveyed by all 5 decks were similar. She was stunned by the result. I
wasn’t. It’s all about the energy and there are myriad of ways for the cards to express
the same message. Energy doesn’t lie. Look beyond the numbers and words on the
cards and what conventional meaning have been assigned to the cards. Follow your
intuition and let the energy of your client and their questions be your guide.

Check in with your client

After you have seen the cards and communicated with your client about the
message presented by the cards, check in with your client. Always leave a client in
a positive state of mind. This is especially important if the news you bring is less
then desirable for the client. Remember that no matter what is installed for your
client, he/she is inherently resourceful and powerful. We are all infinitely powerful.
If your client is troubled by the results it’s because they haven’t start to look into
their own treasure chest. Help them see the learning opportunity and be
compassionate about their predicament. You are not responsible for fixing their
lives, they are on the hook for that. All you need to do is be the witness to their
brilliance.

Life Path Number Calculation
The lessons correspond to the numerology Life Path Number, which is established by
the date of birth. To find this number, first convert the birth date your client was born
to a single digit:

For example: 16th December 1983

Convert the day to a single digit: 16 = 1 + 6 = 7

Then the month: December = 12 = 1 + 2 = 3

Finally the individual birth year: 1983 = 1 + 9 +8 + 3 = 21 = 2 + 1 = 3

We then add together those three digits: 7 + 3 + 3 = 13 = 1 + 3 = 4

4 is the life path number for someone born on the 16th December 1983.

All numbers are reduced to a single digit with the exception of 11, 22 and 33 which are
not reduced. These are master numbers and show a special life purpose.

For example: 2nd May 1993 = 2 + 5 + 4 = 11

Life path number for this person is 11.

Life Path Number Interpretation
Notice that for each Life Path Number, there are positive and negative expressions. A
good way to start interpreting what this number means for your client is to start by
letting them know all the possibilities that their life lessons can manifest and ask if this
resonate with them? Notice if they seem happy, amused, surprised or annoyed by the
information. Their reaction can give you a clue as to whether they are having some
issues with learning their lessons or not. Chances are unless your client is doing
something along the line of their life lessons they are probably not truly happy. This
may not be obvious when your client is younger then 30. Some times the universe
gives us a certain amount of time to prepare ourselves before it presents our major life
lessons. By 30 years of age though life lessons will have shown up quite noticeably.

Remember that the purpose of this pre-reading is to let you get acquainted with your
client and build some rapport between you two. This will pave the way for a more in
depth reading. It does not matter how your client react to their life lessons. Whatever
their reaction is is just fine. Remember your focus here is on building rapport with your
client. It is wonderful if they want to share some information about their life. It is just
as wonderful if they shrugged their shoulders and seem completely clueless that there
are lessons to be learned. Just move things along and go right into the actual reading.

Another point to note is that the life path number is made up of 3 numbers, i.e. the birth
day, birth month and birth year. You can treat these three numbers as sub-lessons and
the aggregate number is the master lesson. Let me give you an example:

Client X came to me for biofeedback sessions rather then a reading and I ask for
birthdays of all my clients no matter what they come for. His birthday is May 2nd
1993.
Day = 2; Month = 5; Year = 4 and LPN = 11.

Client X is a young man barely out of high school. Even at this young age, he has the
air of someone I would feel comfortable learning from. These qualities will serve him
well as his LPN is 11, a master number. As I talked to him I found out that he is an avid
online gamer and he just got accepted into U of T’s computer program. He came to me
because of sinus allergies and occasional back pain. So let’s look at his sub-numbers to
see if they shed any light on his complaints.

Intuitive Card Reading by Winnie Lui © 2011

esi-coach.com
Life Path Number Interpretation
Continued
His day number is 2. His chosen field is computer which is the essence of cooperation
and teamwork if you think of the internet as a whole. The fact that he is open to
energy healing gave away his sensitive nature. He may talk tough to his friends or
other gamers online but these are just façade that protects his sensitive nature. He
really needs the support of his parents though he is not good at asking for what he
needs at the moment.

His month number is 5 and he is definitely into freedom, adventure, challenge and fun
as a gamer. His addiction is gaming and it showed up as back pain and sinus issues
because of the amount of time he spent on gaming. Our body is just not made to sit in
front of the computer hours on end. His year number is 4 and the physical body and
limitation are both implicated. I encouraged him to take time out to exercise and start
treating his body better. Last I heard he got his parents to set him up with a treadmill.
Great that he is doing better at asking for what he needs and paying attention to his
physical body.

This is one example of how LPN works out and how you can use the information to
guide your client appropriately. I suggest that you do your own LPN and see for
yourself how it is working out in your own life. Offer to do LPN for your friends, that
way you can get more practice and have their feed back on what you can do to
improve your reading. Practice on as many person as you can to build up your
confidence. By the way my life path number is 7 would you have guessed that?

Life Path Number and Beyond
Life Path Number is a part of Numerology and there is a LOT more than what I have
shared with you. You can do consultation with clients just using numerology alone.
Numerology consultations does not rely on intuition as much. If you are the kind of
person who need something more tangible you may want to investigate Numerology
further. Though I must point out to you the fact that numerology works is a testament
to the reality of energy. I believe that we exist as an entity of a certain vibration before
we were born and we pick our birth date accordingly to help us learn the lessons we
have planned for ourselves during this life time. Besides our birthday, our souls also
pick the name we are given and the name we go by. Our name also can be reduced to
a number and interpreted. A detail discourse on numerology is beyond my skill set and
the scope of this ebook. Visit Numerologist.com to learn all the nitty gritty stuff.

What I have given you here on numerology is just enough for an ice-breaker. You can
also use it to build up a client list if you do it right. You can give away a free 15
minute life path number reading to potential clients and then up sell them to a full
intuitive card reading. That way your potential client get a chance to check you out
and you get a chance to build a relationship with them without giving the farm away.
It’s a win win situation. You can also be a party entertainer with life path number. Put
an ad in Craig’s List or Kijiji or wherever and name a price that you are comfortable
with. The better you are and more confident you are the more you can charge. My
latest gig was for a sweet sixteen birthday party doing 15 minute intuitive card
readings. It was a joy and privilege to read for that crowd. Most of them are indigo
kids. They are young and brilliantly talented. I got to hang with them for the evening
and they pay me! If that sounds like something you would like to do then start posting
your ads and let the universe know what you want. If you practice what I give you
here you will do great.
