Instructions for Comprehensive Examinations May 2019


Disclaimer: This message is intended for those students of BITS Pilani WILP, who plan to appear for either the Regular
Comprehensive Examinations during May 03, 04 & 05, 2019 OR the Makeup Comprehensive Examinations during May 10, 11 &
12, 2019. If you are not the intended recipient, please notify Student Care Help Desk with your IDNo.

Dear Student,

Please follow the instructions given below, for appearing in the Regular Comprehensive Examinations which are scheduled for
May 03, 04 & 05, 2019 or the Makeup Comprehensive Examinations which are scheduled for May 10, 11 & 12, 2019 .

1. HallTicket and Photo ID Proof: You must download, print, and carry a hardcopy of your HallTicket to the exam venue, along
with a valid, original, Government-issued photo-ID proof like Passport, Aadhaar Card, Driving License, PAN card, or Voter ID
card. No hardcopy HallTickets will be sent by post. Softcopies of HallTicket or ID Proofs are NOT acceptable.

The link for downloading the HallTicket for Regular Comprehensive Exams (which are scheduled for May 03, 04 & 05, 2019) will

Please note the location and route to the exam venue and plan to reach the venue well before the start of each exam.

2. Makeup Exam Policy: Please note that the Makeup Exams are a special provision for those students who have missed one or
more Regular Exams due to unforeseen or unavoidable circumstances.

The link for the HallTicket for Makeup Exams will be open only AFTER the Regular Exams are over, from 6 May 2019.

3. Reporting Time: Please report to the exam venue at the venue 40 minutes before the start of each exam. Entry into the exam
hall will be allowed between 8:20 AM and 8:50 AM for the Morning (Forenoon) session, and between 1:20 PM and 1:50 PM for the
Afternoon session, on all days of exams. No students will be allowed inside the exam hall after the start of the exam.

4. Seating Arrangement: Please check the Course Numbers printed on your HallTicket are use them to locate your exam hall /
room on the Notice Board at the main entrance of the exam venue. Please note that Course Titles will NOT be displayed on the
notice boards. Only Course Nos. will be displayed on the notice boards.

5. Open Book exams: All Comprehensive Exams are completely Open Book type and for a total duration of 3 hours. You can refer
to any properly filed or bound hardcopy reference material during the exams. Permissible reference material includes any
textbooks, reference books, lecture slides, lecture notes, photocopied reference material, notebooks with handwritten notes. Loose
sheets of paper are NOT allowed inside the exam hall. All types of electronic calculators are allowed. No exchange of any
material will be allowed.

6. Cloak Room: Please switch-off and place all your electronic computing and communication devices including laptops, tablets,
notebook computers, mobile phones, smart watches, iPods, headphones, earphones, any wireless communication devices like wifi
hotspots and Bluetooth devices), chargers and cables etc, and other valuables, in a properly closed laptop bag or backpack
bag, with your IDNo, Name and Mobile Number clearly written on a prominent Name Tag, and deposit the bag in the Cloak
Room at the exam venue, before entering the exam hall. Avoid bringing valuables to the exam venue. BITS Pilani shall not be
responsible for any loss.

7. Security Check: All students will be subjected to security check and frisking after depositing belongings in the Cloak Room,
but before entering the exam hall. So, please do not carry any electronic devices except calculator inside.

8. Things allowed inside the exam hall: Students will be allowed to take only the following items inside the exam hall: One or
two hand bags containing their hardcopy reference material (books, notebooks etc. as mentioned above), their hardcopy HallTicket
and Photo ID proof, an electronic calculator, a pouch / box containing writing and drawing instruments, a pouch containing any
emergency / prescriptions medicines and a small quantity eatables like toffees, and a bottle of water. No other eatables are allowed.

9. Question paper display on electronic tablets: Once you are seated inside the exam hall, you will be provided with an Electronic
tablet for viewing the softcopy of your question paper. The password will be announced just before the commencement of each
exam.

10. Instructions to Candidates: Please follow the instructions given on the cover page of the Answerbook and on the Question
Paper. Please listen to the announcements made before and during the exams.

11. Attendance Record: Please sign on the cover page of the Answerbook, the Attendance Sheets, and handover your Answerbook
alongwwith your Electronic Tablet at the end of the exam.

12. Leaving early: Please note that no student will be allowed to leave the exam hall within the first 60 minutes of the exam.

13. Decorum inside exam hall: Please maintain the decorum of examinations, maintain strict discipline and silence, and refrain from
any action that would disturb or distract others during the exams.

14. Malpractice: Please note that any attempt at use of any unfair means or malpractice like possession or use of any material that
is not allowed inside the exam hall like mobile phones, communicating with other students inside or outside the exam hall during
the exams, exchange of any material between students, unruly behavior or indiscipline, will be liable for severe disciplinary action,
which includes discontinuation from the programme.

15. Any other issues: In case of any issues with the exam venue facilities or the conduct of exams, please contact the BITS
Coordinator on duty at the exam venue.
