SUBJECT: 2007 600 CFI Oil Pump / Throttle Body Synchronization Inspection

PURPOSE:
Production line quality validation checks of some 2007 600 CFI models have revealed the necessity to verify the oil pump
actuator arm and the throttle body plates move simultaneously.

m
Please follow the inspection procedures within this Service Bulletin and verify the oil pump actuator arm and throttle body

o
plates move simultaneously. If inspection reveals no adjustments are required, file a warranty claim for S-06-14A.

. c
If adjustment to the throttle cable setting is required, perform the adjustment and file a warranty claim for S-06-14B.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
NOTE: Carefully read and perform each step as outlined. The following procedures were created with input
submitted from several service representatives who validated each procedure in an effort to best communicate
how to perform this service Bulletin efficiently and accurately.

m
1. Open hood, then remove left-side door panel.

o
2. Remove the electrical center cover from the clutch guard.
3. Use a 3/8″ socket with a 3″ extension to remove the fuel hoses from the airbox. Do not drop the fastener into the

. c
engine compartment.

lr d
4. Use a long flat-blade screwdriver to remove
the fuel filter from the airbox retainer.

y
5. Disconnect the air temperature sensor leads,

o
then remove the airbox from the engine

B
compartment.

gear clamps securing the airbox adaptor
plate.
NOTE: Do not use power tools to loosen the
gear clamps.
7. There are two methods for determining if the
oil pump actuator arm and throttle body plates
move simultaneously:

Method A: Using a mirror and flashlight,
view the oil pump actuator arm and insert METHOD A
one finger into the PTO throttle body bore.
Have an assistant slightly move the
throttle lever. Verify the oil pump actuator
arm and throttle body plate move
simultaneously. Repeat as required to
ensure synchronization.

Method B: Insert your left-hand thumb

into the PTO throttle body bore making contact with

m
the bottom of the throttle plate. Extend one of your
fingers down to the oil pump actuator arm. Again,

o
have an assistant slightly move the throttle lever

c
slowly while you verify the oil pump actuator arm

.
and throttle body plate move simultaneously.

lr d
Repeat as required to ensure synchronization.

y
8. If the throttle body plates are opening prior to the oil

o
pump actuator arm moving, adjustment is required.

B
Follow the Adjustment Procedure.

W
9. If the oil pump actuator arm and throttle plates are

d
synchronized and move simultaneously, no adjustment

e l e
is required. Assemble removed components as outlined

in the Assembly Procedure and file a warranty claim

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE:

b m
1. If applicable, remove the handlebar cover, then slide the
cover back away from the throttle cable inline adjuster.

O ow
2. Loosen the jam nut on the adjuster. Mark the
adjuster barrel so the number of adjustment ADJUSTER
turns can be counted.

n
3. Back-out adjuster, while counting the turns,
JAM NUT
until the oil pump actuator arm and throttle

S
body plates move simultaneously.
NOTE: The throttle body plates will be open
excessively at this point. Completion of
procedure will correct this.
4. Once synchronized, mark the throttle cable
jam nut, loosen the throttle cable jam nut at
the throttle body, then back the jam nut
counter-clockwise the same number of turns
in step 3.

5. Press the threaded barrel against the bracket firmly.
CRITICAL! Ensure the throttle cam makes contact
with the idle speed stop screw. Insert a .001″
feeler gauge to ensure cam makes contact with stop
screw. If not, back the upper jam nut up until contact
is made.
6. Back the upper jam nut up counter-clockwise 1 Hold Upper Jam Nut
additional turn.
7. Finger-tighten the lower jam nut while applying
downward pressure on the threaded barrel making
sure the upper nut does not turn.
8. While holding lower jam nut, tighten upper jam nut.
9. Re-set the throttle lever freeplay to .010″ - .030″
using the throttle cable inline adjuster. Once freeplay
is set, secure inline adjuster jam nuts using two
pliers.
Secure Lower Jam Nut
10. Re-check the oil pump actuator arm and throttle plate
synchronization. Verify the throttle cam contacts the
idle stop set screw. If not, repeat adjustment procedure.
NOTE: Do not re-route the throttle cable after performing the adjustment procedure.

m
11. Reference Chapter 11 in the 2007 2 Stroke Service Manual, PN 9920463. Using Digital Wrench, verify the TPS voltage

o
is set to .95 Vdc +/- .01 Vdc at idle.

c
12. If the oil pump actuator arm and throttle plates are synchronized and the TPS voltage is .95 Vdc +/- .01 Vdc at idle,

.
proceed with the Assembly Procedure. File a warranty claim for S-06-14B.

lr d
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE:
1. Install the airbox adapter plate. Using a flat-blade screw driver, torque gear clamps to 1.5 ft.lbs (18 in.lbs).

y
NOTE: Do not use power tools to tighten the gear clamps. Over-torquing the gear clamp may cause clamp failure.

o
The part number for a new gear clamp is 7080909.

B
2. Reinstall the airbox assembly. Verify an audible “click” is heard when the airbox is engaged with the adaptor plate.

W
3. Use the original hardware to assemble the fuel filter to the airbox. Hand-tighten the fasteners. Re-connect the air temp.

/ pressure sensor harness.

4. Locate the ground cable at the back of the electrical

center cover.

5. Remove the nut, then install the star washer, PN Install Star Washer Under Ground Cable
