The above gradation shall be obtained by suitably mixing the fme aggregate specified in
Clause 6.2 .4.2 Fine Aggregate here below and the three (3) coarse aggregates size groups
specified in Clause 6.2 .4 .3 Coarse Aggregate here below. Separate processing of the
aggregates for CVC and for RCC shall not be required other than washing of the fine
aggregate to reduce the fines content (minus 0.075mm) for CVC. The total quantity of
material fmer than 0.002mm, as determined by hydrometer parti c1 e size analysis , shall not
exceed 1% in the combined aggregate.

6.2.5.2. Fine Aggregate

The term 댐ne aggregate" is used to designate that p따t of the aggregate which passes a 5-
mm sieve, i. e. as may otherwise be rεferred to as ‘sand’. The Contractor shall supply Fine
aggregate for RCC and it shall consist of crushed rock from the specified quaπy. Tertiary
crushing using a vertical shaft impact crusher (VS I) wi11 1ikely be required to achieve the
specified proportion of material finer than 0,075mm and other fme fractions for RCC as
shown in the table above.
The Contractor shall store the fine aggregate in stockpi1 es that have free draining bases and
they shall be stored and handled so that they are not contaminated by foreign matter and
dust and that the moisture content is kept reasonably uniform and stable when delivered to
the batching plant. Fine aggregate stockp i1 es shall be situated so that contamination from
coarse aggregate cannot occur.
The fme aggregate as batched shall be well graded from the smallest to the largest size.

6.2.5.3. Coarse Aggregate

The term "coarse aggregate" is used to designate that part of the aggregate which is
retained on a 5mmsieve. The Contractor shall supply the co따se aggregate for RCC and it
shall consist of a crushed natural aggregate extracted from the quarηT and split by sie、Ting
in three different sizes: 0 1: 50-25 mm, 02: 25-12.5 mm and 03: 12.5-5 mm.
The gradation limits for the individual sizes of co따se aggregate shall be in line with the
criteria defined in Chapter 7 Conventional Vibrated Concrete (CVC).
