1. How do you apply or promote human diversity, social literacy
and social efficiency to one school children in the school and
also in the community?

ANSWER:
Human diversity talks about understanding the differences,
uniqueness of individuals. We have diverse students and we need to
take into consideration about it, some of our students came from
different culture, different religion, and different beliefs.
As a teacher, we should be smart enough to handle this kind of
situation. We should be literate for us to conduct good, efficient and
effective teaching and learning process. It is not only about teaching
our students of some lessons but also to make them participative and
active student, not only in the school but also in society and in
community where they belong.
As a teacher, we should know that every students has something
to do in the community, they were being mold and equipped through
schooling and teaching them various lessons. We should take good
care about them by guiding them to the right path to become a
successful one so they can be an asset in their school and also to the
community.

2. Why sociology is considered as the principal discipline in the

study of social dimensions of education?

ANSWER:
Sociologists see education as one of the major institutions that
constitute society. While theories guide research and policy
formulation in the sociology of education, they also provide logical
explanations for why things happen the way they do. These theories
help sociologist understand educational system.
When we talk about sociology, it defined as a branch as social
sciences uses systematic methods of empirical investigation critical
analysis, develop refine, body of knowledge, human social structure
and activities that will contribute for the discipline in the study of social
dimensions of education that is why it is considered as the principal
discipline of social dimensions of education.

3. Explain and give example of platonic assumptions according to

Bolender.

ANSWER:
The platonic Assumption of Bolender talks about a man as an
organism that tends toward survival. Man as a living organism. Human
beings have to satisfy their needs from the most basic biological needs
to psychological social, cultural, spiritual and moral needs. Bolender
believes that a man is a social animal that survives in groups. Human
beings always live in groups because they can’t meet fulfill many of
their needs alone. They are gregarious since they try to find
interaction, security, love affirmation support and feedbacks.
Gregariousness means the tendency with human being to seek the
company of others for various reasons. Man lives in an ordered society
that is developed through the social patterns that are established through
the rules of truths structure they create.

4. Give some reasons or cites situations whether education and

schooling are the same.

ANSWER:
Education is one of the five major social institutions. The basic
purpose of the education is the transmission of knowledge. As for me,
schools are really to develop good interpersonal relationships, or
develop a national loyalty. Some say schools come down to either
preparing students to adjust to society or equipping them to change
and improve society. The school is a place for contemplation of reality;
it means the act of thinking deeply about something realistic, or the
act of looking carefully at something realistic.
Schooling is the teaching that is done in a school while education
is the knowledge, skills and understanding you get from attending a
school, college, or university. Therefore, education and schooling is the
same in many ways.

5. Describe the four types of education in modern society, then

try to find out it non-formal education and alternative learning
system are being thought in our community and how they are
manage by the teacher.

ANSWER:
The four types of education in Modern Society are the following:
First, is the “Informal Education.” This refers to incidental
learning derived from home, church, mass media, peers, internet, and
other educative agencies, and social institutions which are not
organized, specified, anticipated or predicted.
Second, is the “Formal Education.” This refers to the education
which are normally takes place within the four walls of classrooms with
the presence of teacher, guided by a set of organized activities that
are intended to transmit skills, knowledge and values as well as to
develop mental disabilities.
Third, is the “Non-formal Education.” This refers to organized
instruction that takes place outside school setting, unlike formal
education which has prescribed and sequential curriculum this type of
education puts stress on the ability of the students to make choices of
what they want to learn.
And lastly, is the “Alternative Learning System.” This refers to
the learning system, which can be a practical option for those who do
not want to be trained under the formal schooling, due to various
impeding circumstance in life.
Those are the four types of education in Modern society, and
some in our barangays are conducting one of this educational in
modern society like ALS or alternative learning system but it is well
manage by their teachers.
6. A. Give the four pillars of education and try to find out its
purposes to the school learners in the school and in the
community.

ANSWER:
The four pillars of education are: Learning to know, learning to
do, learning to live together and learning to be. The first pillar is the
“Learning to know” that implies learning how to learn by developing
one’s concentration, memory skills and ability to think. If, as a
teacher, we have been helping students to develop their skills that
would make them independent learners, we are doing well on the
first pillar of education because we have prepared them for life in
the knowledge society in which we all now live.
Then, the second one is the “Learning to do,” the teacher’s role
are just facilitator of learning, catalyst, monitor and the evaluator.
Learning to do represents the skillful, creative and discerning
application of knowledge. One must learn how to think creatively,
critically, and holistically, and how to deeply understand the
information that is presented.
The third one is “learning to live together,” this involves the
development of social skills and values such as respect and concern
for others, social and interpersonal skills and appreciation of the
diversity among people. This refers to us to be more concern not
only in our own life but also in others as well.
Lastly, but far from least is the “learning to be” this refers to the
role of education in developing all the dimensions of the complete
person, in physical, intellectual, emotional, and ethical integration
of the individual into a complete man.
And the very purpose of these pillars is to understand what
students need to acquire and develop in themselves.

B. Why these four pillars of education become and instrument

for international understanding and are considered also to
provide world peace?

ANSWER:
The four pillars of education has something to do not only for
teaching and learning process that is done in school but also in society
and in our community, for peace must begin with each one of us.
Through quiet and serious reflection on its meaning, new and creative
ways can be found a faster understanding, friendship and cooperation
among all people.
I believe that peace does not mean to be in a place where there is
no noise, trouble or hardwork rather it means to be in the midst of
those things and still be calm in your heart.
7. Discuss briefly the eight Basic behaviors for intercultural
competence and be able to observe a class, on how the
teachers apply the classroom discipline to his/her learners.
ANSWER:
We have eight basic behavior for Intercultural Competence. First
is the “Display of reflects,” the most important mark of cultural
competence is the display of respect. Displaying respect means
becoming aware of different cultural rules, especially those acceptable
norms or standards of behaviors. Next, is the “Orientation of
knowledge,” it means determining the context or where the individual
comes from that shapes his way of thinking and behavior. This is
essential as, this becomes the basic of an individual’s behavior in an
intercultural dialogue. It also implies that there is a need for
individuals to move or transcend from their unconscious ethnocentrism
to a more conscious awareness of other’s culture.
The third is the “Empathy,” it is the capacity to feel how others
feel. But to show empathy is not easy. One is required to put aside his
own cultural makeup before trying to take on another person’s cultural
identity. Interestingly, many people feel that empathy is the most
important skill to develop intercultural competence. The fourth is
“Interaction Management” means taking initiative, the good case of
interaction management is finishing a sentence of the sender by the
receiver. The next is the “Relational role behavior,” this refers to the
serious attempt of a person to participate in establishing and
preserving a personal relationship that is trusting, harmonious, and
supportive to each other.
Next is the “Tolerance for ambiguity” it means openness to
experience social acceptance, and ambiguity refers to confusion.
Furthermore, tolerance is essential to the realization of effective
intercultural communication because it accords respect to one’s
identity and recognizes the rich diversity and plurality of cultures and
human expression.
Then, “Emotional Expression and interaction posture,”
expression of emotions like joy, anger, sadness, shame, fear, etc. in
social behavior develops from culture to culture.
Lastly, is the “Task role behavior,” means understanding task
role behavior is important during intercultural communication, because
it leads to group harmony, teamwork, and productivity. By observing a
class, the teacher is smart for promoting and applying this disciplines
in his/her classroom for an effective teaching and learning process and
for peace and harmony of his/her classroom.

8. Give your own opinion with regards of the four approaches to

multicultural curriculum reform. Cite some examples of each
approach.

ANSWER:
James Banks says that there are four approaches to multicultural
curriculum reform, the first approach is the “Contributions approach”
which pertains about the involvement of the enthnic heroes and
holidays are included in the curriculum. Heroes, holidays, and food
become a special focus on a particular day, recognizing the
contributions of various groups.
The second one is the “Additive Approach,” which talks about the
Unit or course is incorporated (for example, a unit on women in
history), but no substantial change is made to the curriculum as a
whole. Special units and topics about various groups are added to, but
do not fundamentally alter the curriculum)
The third one is the “Transformation approach” which talk about
the entire Eurocentric nature of the curriculum is changed. Students
are taught to view events and issues from diverse ethnic and cultural
perspective. Curriculum is change, so that students see the world from
the different perspective of various groups.
Lastly, is the “Social Action Approach,” it means the students
now will make decisions about the world and become directly involved
in social actions. Students not only learn to view issues from multiple
perspectives but also become directly involved in solving related
problems.

9. How can you apply the methods of inclusive education in the

teaching and learning process?

ANSWER:
Inclusive Education is helped for enriching the teaching and
learning process, considering the individual diversity and individual
differences, they don’t take this as a problem but as an opportunities
for enriching learning. As a powerful approach, it incorporates disabled
students who have special education needs into the regular education
environment.
As becoming 21st century teacher, I can apply these methods of
inclusive education in the teaching and learning process, considering
their strength and weaknesses and knowing that every student has
potentials and skills that need to be developed as holistic individual,
and I can do this by the help and guidance of My Lord.

10. A. Discuss briefly and give examples of the different

sources of Gender Stereotypes in the society.

ANSWER:
When we say or talk about stereotyping, it refers to the negative
opinion about a persons or group based on incomplete knowledge. We
are not about to judge other people, in fact as a teacher, we should
know the value of each students, we have diverse students that we
should take into consideration, we should be smart enough to handle
this.
Gender stereotyping is defined as the beliefs humans hold about
the characteristics associated with males and females. Many teachers
treat boys differently from girls. Both problems are reflected in these
comments “Girls can’t do math; girls can’t do science; girls are always
crying; girls can’t be a leaders. The attitudes behind such comments
hold some potential pitfalls, especially for teacher. One feature of
stereotyping of stereotyping is that people perceive and interpret a
situation in accordance with their beliefs. A stereotyping a schema or a
set of beliefs about a certain group of people. Gender-role stereotypes
are the features we assign to men and women due to biological sex
but not based in the social roles, men and women hold.
B. How can you differentiate Homosexuality and
transgenderism?

ANSWER:
Homosexuality is the quality or state of being homosexual, it
pertains about the person who is sexually attracted to people of the
same sex, base on or showing a sexual attraction to people of the
same sex; relating to or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual
desire toward another of the same sex.
On the other hand, the transgenderism refers to a person who as
a transsexual or transvestite who identifies with or expresses a gender
identity differs from the one which corresponds to the person’s sex at
birth. That’s what makes differ from homosexuality and
transgenderism, or that is the difference between the two.

11. A. Give the positive and negative effect of Globalization.

ANSWER:
The positive effects of globalization are follows; when we talk
about globalization, it refers to an increasing interconnectedness and
convergence of activities and forms of life among diverse cultures
throughout the world, as social beings, we are bound to create a
community where unity, harmony and genuine concern for one
another is a universal everyday mandate. These are the positive
effects of globalization.
As globalization has positive effect, it has negative effect as well,
one could think that globalization is only a matter of industry and
business and that education as a moral process is not part of this
development.

B. Explain what benefits you can get from the globalization,

and why there are also negative effects of globalization.

ANSWER:
I could say that as 21st century teacher, it is our benefits in a
sense that international forces are driving more and more
developments in the world, and thus, crystallizes both the hopes of
some people that we will finally achieve a global society and the fears
of many others that their lives and jobs are threatened by forces
beyond their control.
There’s also negative effect of globalization, but it doesn’t mean
that globalization is not a strategic movement for the development not
only in education aspect but also in the society and the society and our
community.
Globalization has for itself its evils. Numerous anti-globalists
contend that instead of bridging the benefits of development to the
underdeveloped nations, globalization has widened the gap between
the rich and poor countries. They particularly enumerated the evils of
globalization to poor nations as “Globalization has worsened the
inequality between and within nations.”, “It has heightened the
insecurity of the working class all over the world.” “It has brought
tremendous dislocation to the likes of the poor and the indigenous
communities.” Environmental degradation” and “Brain drain,” those
are the negative effect of globalization.

12. A. What are the major reasons for peace education?

ANSWER:

culture of peace, is essentially transformative. It cultivates the
knowledge base, skills, attitude and values that seek to transform
people’s mindset, attitudes and behaviors that in the first place, have
either created or exacerbated violent conflicts.

B. How can you promote peace in your own barangay and what
are the possible suggestions from the barangay officials and
also school officials?

ANSWER:

promoting non-violence, because when we refuse to do harm to other
humans as life is sacred and is an absolute value, we can achieve
peace in our own barangay.
