There should be more special schools for autistic children.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by
challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviour s, speech and nonverbal communication. In today’s
world, education is a key part of every child’s life but too many children with autism in are not
getting the education and support they need. There is a high proportion of children with autism that
do attend mainstream schools, suggesting a large number of autistic children are not getting the
educational experience they deserve. Therefore, the government should establish more special
schools for autistic children because they have their own special needs, they deserve to interact with
others with comfort and they have to prepare for their own future.

Firstly, there should be more special schools for autistic children to fulfil their own special needs.
Special school can provide a good and comfortable environment for them. This is because they
require extra care and attention. Research has shown that mainstream schools are frequently
neither fully educated nor equipped to deal with the needs of an autistic child and give them the
necessary support.

Staffs and teachers actually have the credibility as they have achieved certificates to teach and
handle autistic children which mainstream schools cannot provide. The teachers not only need the
degree needed for a job in autistic support, but they also need to have strong patience, a certificate
to practice in the field and the ability to devote long hours to working with their clients.

Para

The teachers not only need the degree that is required for the job in autism spectrum, but they also
must have strong patience, a certified certificate to be able to work in the field and the willingness to
dedicate their time to long hours of working with the clients.

Next, there should be special schools for autistic children because they deserve to make friends and
interact with others easier. It can expose them to build and create relationships with one another.
They need longer time to process information and can also find socialising and communicating
challenging. Many want to make friends, but find it hard as they lack the expected social skills.

Para

Next, there should be special schools for autistic children because they deserve to make friends and
interact with others easier. Studies show that the risk of autistic children getting bullied are higher in
mainstream schools. In addition to this, 56% of parents of children on the autism spectrum who had
been bullied said that it caused their child to miss school or even change schools.

Para

Moreover, 56% of parents of the autistic children stated that their child tend to miss classes or
move schools due to the bullying.

It improves their speaking skills and confidence because they interact socially with people who
understand their weaknesses and strengths. “The curriculum needs to be compensatory developed
with an understanding of the triad of impairment, sensory processing issues and psychological
theories to make it meaningful. Many pupils are highly visual learners and require instruction to be
given in this manner. “Without these individualised supports across the school environment it is
highly unlikely that a pupil with autism will make the academic and social progress that they should.”
Para

It improves their speaking skills and confidence because autistic children feel they able to make
social interaction with people who can understand their weaknesses and willingness. The curriculum
must be improved for further understanding of the children’s impairment, sensory processing issues
and their mind theories to make the lessons more effective. Most of the students learn visually and
need orders. Without these support that are given to individuals specifically, there is a low chance
that an autistic student can make academic and social progress as they should.

Lastly, autistic children should be in special schools to help them prepare for their future. People
should be aware that autistic children can be just as smart as other children. In some cases, their IQ
level can be higher than normal people. Between 1966 to 1998, studies found that about 20% of the
people with ASD functioned in the “normal range” of intelligence. By 2014, 50% of people with ASD
had average or above-average intelligence (IQ >85), 33% of people with ASD had an intellectual
disability, and 23% had borderline IQ scores (71–85).

Para

Lastly, autistic children should be in special schools to help them prepare for her future. The society
should be fully informed and considered that autistic children can be just normal and intelligence as
other normal kids. Plus, in several condition, it is estimated that they IQ tend to be higher than
average people. According to study conducted between 1996 to 1998, as cited by B (), about 20% of
the people with autism, or autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) have standard level of ability to apply
knowledge and skills. Half percent of people with autism had common or above- average level of
ability to apply knowledge and skills in (IQ> 85) in 2014, while 33% of autism people had an
intellectual disability and 23% had borderline IQ scores (71-85). It shows that actually autistic
children have probability to act like normal kids and in order to secure it, they should be in special
schools. Besides, because autistic children have unique capabilities from common people, society
have this thought of looking down their abilities and tend to underestimate autistic children.
According to article retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nihgov/pmc, it states that autistic and
developing control children have no such discrepancy, but in similar observation, it shows similar
contrast when a sample of autistic adults was compared with a sample of non-autistic adults. That is
why they should be placed in a special schools as they can developed their skills.

Para 2

People should have the concern of awareness that autistic children are smart too same as other
normal children. It is found that their IQ level can be higher than normal people. Studies conducted
in 1966 until 1998 found that people with ASD have the normal range of intelligence. In 2014, the
range has increases to 50% which the statistic average or above-average intelligence.

Some people have this stigma of underestimating autistic children’s abilities because they have
different capabilities from normal people. Typically developing control children showed no such
discrepancy, and a similar contrast was observed when a sample of autistic adults was compared
with a sample of no autistic adults. We conclude that intelligence has been underestimated in
autistics.
Autistic children are capable of pushing themselves out of expectation because they have gifted
skills. “Some people with autism have exceptional abilities in five categories: calendar calculation,
mathematics, art, music and mechanical skills,” she says. “Research now says that one in 10 people
with autism has a special skill, but there is a range in the degree of these abilities.”

Para

Autistic children are capable of pushing themselves out of expectation because they have gifted
skills. As cited by Rachel Gossan, who was a board-certified behaviour analyst at North Shore
Paediatric Therapy, some people who have autism have their own specialize abilities according to
five categories such as calendar calculation, mathematics, art, music and mechanical skills. She also
added that research has proved that one over 10 people with autism has the specialities but the
abilities still vary in range.

All in all, autistic children deserve a fully equipped special school that can fulfil their own special
needs, encourage them to make friends and interact with others confidently and prepare for their
own future. We all should always remember that they are just like us that deserve right and justice.
Therefore, there should be more special schools for autistics’ comfort so they can have a bright
future like others as children are the leaders of the future generation.
