Installation and Test Guide, version 2.0

1 Introduction
This document is describing the test and verification procedure used to verify
that the official German requirements, the so-called BlmSchV Rules,
regarding Vapour Recovery Monitoring, are complied with when using the
Doms PSS 5000 and FAFNIR VRC Boxes.

The test procedures can be used in an accept test session for the customer of
the PSS 5000 / VRC system.

3.1 PSS 5000

The VRM Alarm Panel should be connected to the PSS port 11 (default) via a
DSB451 module (Parallel I/O).

For port number of all other external devices: Please see PSS 5000 Application
Software Release Document (SRD).

Program modules are uploaded according to the PSS 5000 Technical Manual.

3.1.1 Configuration

The TCP/IP IP address of the PSS 5000 must set to a value given by the
network administrator.

To set the above mentioned TCP/IP parameters from the Local Service Panel
go to menu 2.3.1 and press <RIGHT> to display the current IP address and
proceed to the set-up menu’s.

3.2 Local Optical and Acoustical Alarms

Alarm Panel

The system must locally be equipped with an optical as well as an acoustical

alarm.

Alarms should be handled in two steps:

• first alert the operator and the remote system that something is wrong
with the vapour recovery system.

• second provide information regarding what is wrong.

Alarm functionality’s to be checked:

• Visual alarm:

o ON to indicate that everything is ok.

o FLASHING if the Vapour Recovery System has one or more
nozzles in error or disabled state.
o OFF indicates that there is a problem with the alarm panel or
its connections.

• Acoustical alarm:

o SOUND if the Vapour Recovery System has one or more

nozzles in error or disabled state.
o Switch for switching off the sound

5 Verification Sessions
In the following test sessions the test results are checked as following:

• ‘PSS Web Menu 5.1.5.1. Vapour Recovery Monitor Test’ requires

login as User = “vrc” and password = ”password” (default).
• Vapour Recovery Errors on Nozzles are reported as Fuelling Point
Errors (FpError) to the POS system.
• Error counting is reported as ‘Consecutive unacceptable fillings’ on
‘PSS Web Menu 5.1.4.1 Vapour Recovery Monitor Status’ and in the
Site Status Log http://PssIpAddr/newevent.xml
• Evaluated Filling data is logged in the PSS event log
http://PssIpAddr/newevent.xml
• Alarm (Sound and light) is checked on the VRM Alarm panel
• Nozzle disabled is checked by observing if motor running on Pump
Simulator or real pump.

5.1 Evaluated Fillings

Only evaluated fillings are reported by the VRC box.

Definition:
An evaluated filling is a filling that:

• Lasts longer than 20 seconds

and
• Has a flow rate of min. 25 litre/minute

PSS 5000 VRM Verification, Germany
Installation and Test Guide, version 2.0

5.1.1 Various Vapour Recovery Rates (VRR)

Purpose:
Verify, that
• All evaluated fillings must be logged in event log
• A Fuelling Point will enter a Vapour Recovery Error state when an
associated nozzle is meeting the specified error conditions
• Alarm (Acoustical as well as optical) activated

All fillings with unacceptable VRR must regardless of temperature be included

in the error counting.
The limited temperature range between +5C and +35C (both inclusive) is only
related to calibration of the VRC.
The temperature values used in the test cases are solely for having traceable
test data.

5.2 Fillings with VRC-box Error

Customer transactions generated when Vapour Recovery Box is in error states

must always be handled as fillings with unacceptable vapour recovery rate.

1a) Verification sessions with VRC-box online, but no evaluated data

delivered within 5 seconds after Pump Filling ended:1

• Pump transaction. Don’t create any VRC filling. Check that:

o PSS web menu 5.1.4.1 VRM Status + site_sta.xml:
- Nozzle x ‘Status’ Not evaluated
o POS:
- No FpError generated

1b) Verification sessions with VRC-box online, but evaluated data

delivered too late (unexpected):2

• Create 1 filling with VRR = 100% and temp 20. Check that:
o PSS web menu 5.1.4.1 VRM Status + site_sta.xml:
- Nozzle x ‘Status’ not evaluated
o POS:
- FpError 51:Unexpected VRC Filling

• Clear FpError. Check that :

o POS:
- FpError is cleared

• Authorize Fp for another fuelling. Check that:

o Pump:
- Motor can start again

2a) Verification sessions with VRC-box going offline:

• VRC going from online to offline. Check that:

o POS:
- All VRC assigned Fps: FpError 49: VRC Offline warning

• Clear FpError(s). Check that:

o POS:
- All VRC assigned Fps: FpError(s) are cleared

1
Test case might only be possible using VRC simulator or when using real VRC with a pump filling lasting less
than 20 secs or with a flow less than 25 litres/minutes.
2
Test case might only be possible using VRC simulator

5.3 Fillings with Alarm Box Error

When the Alarm Box is offline or in an error state, all transactions should be
handled as VRC error transactions.

Verification session when Alarm-Box going from online to offline:

• Disconnect DIO module DSB451 (Remove DSB cable between PSS

5000 and HIM module). Check that:
o POS:
- All VRC assigned Fps: FpError 52: VR Alarm Panel Offline

• Create 1 filling with VRR = 100% and temp 20. Check that:
o PSS web menu 5.1.4.1 VRM Status + site_sta.xml:
- Nozzle X ‘Status’ warning
- Consecutive unacceptable filling - counter is incremented

5.4 “Time to Live with Error(s)” Error State

If a Vapour Recovery Error state has lasted more than the time specified as
‘Time to Live with Error(s)’ (Default 72 hours), the nozzle must be disabled.

• Create 10 fillings (same nozzle / grade) with VRR = 72% and temp =
20. Check that:
o POS:
- FpError 3x
o Pump:
- Temporary blocked. Another fuelling not possible

• Clear FpError. Check that:

o POS:

• Wait 72 hours (or the time configured as ‘Time to Live with Error(s)’).
Check that:
o The nozzle is disabled (with and without clearing the
generated FpError):

• Using the defective nozzle for another filling. Check that:

o Pump: Filling not possible
o PSS web menu 5.1.4.1 VRM Status + site_sta.xml:

7 Fp Error Codes (Reported to POS)

VRM errors are reported in two levels:

• After 10 consecutive fillings (same Fuelling Point, same nozzle)

FpErrorCode 3x is generated. This error can be cleared – and the Fp
will be operational for another ‘Time To Live With Error(s)’ Default
72 hours

• ‘Time To Live With Error(s)’ timeout (without repairing the VRC

device) FpErrorCode 4x is generated. This error code can be cleared –
but the nozzle will remain disabled.
