A Visit to KNH Report on 6/10/2018

 The journey to KNH was thoroughly prepared by members’ contributions towards

purchase of tissues, bar soaps, and petroleum jelly for the patients. These items were

meant to be given to them for free.

 We started from Ngong at 8.45 am in the morning in a group of six people using personal

means of transport.

 The journey around 30 minutes using Ngong road to the hospital.

 On arrival, it was around 9.30 am with lesson discussions underway.

 We joined discussion groups which had the best topic ever.

 It was lesson one entitled “Creation and Fall” of man led by various lesson facilitators in

each group.

 The lessons ended at around 10.30 am after which singing session followed.

 The singing session was led by Rhoda Mumbo (Ngong church) and one of the KNH

chapel choristers.

 A promotion for one of our churches construction was conducted followed by another

one aimed at helping one of the new converts pick up with life expenses after long illness

of her child and fleeing of her husband.

 Church announcement session followed at around noon conducted KNH chapel elders.

 Various choirs presented items such as from Rongai South and Rongai central.

 Divine service followed in which the sermon was delivered by Mrs Okoth

 The title of the sermon was “Types of Prayers such as Thanksgiving, petition,

Confession, and Intercession.”

 The sermon ended at 1.30pm following briefing on how to visit the wards at later hours.
 We went for lunch of around 30 minutes and convened at around 2.30pm for arranged on

groupings.

 We divided ourselves into 5 groups of approximately equal number of people.

 Each group had a temporary leader who could give direction on ward visitations which

started at around 3.00 pm.

 We took time to visit assigned wards starting from those of children at seventh floor.

 We proceeded to other floors for more visitations such as sixth, fifth, and fourth floors.

 In each ward visitation we carried out a set plan of doing things as follows

o We greeted the patients and asked for permission from them to share the word of

God through singing, praying, and reading the scripture.

o Once given permission, we opened with prayer, singing a song of choice from any

patient when possible, otherwise we sung the one which could fit the situation.

After singing, we shared the scripture and closed with prayers by one of the

chaplains which constituted special requests by patients other than sickness.

o We left the ward after distributing the gifts as the laid pattern, i.e. 1 soap, 1 tissue,

and 1 petroleum jelly per patient in need.

 After ward visitations, we held briefs and shared our experiences to mark the end of our

day at around 5.00 pm.

 We left KNH at around 5.30 pm each using personal means.
