The Environmental Code of Maddela an ongoing endeavor

October 9, 2019 - The Committee on Agriculture, Environmental Protection, Water & Natural
Resources, Cooperatives and Tourism conducted another public hearing to tackle matters on the
proposed Environmental Code of Maddela, the committee chairman, Hon. Orlando L. Salvador,
Jr. with the committee members lead the discussion. The draft ordinance was presented to
representatives from different sectors and they were able to provide valuable information to
make the code more beneficial not only for the municipality but for our environment. Mr.
Lemuel O. Maranion, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, advised that they
will go through all the suggestion and make necessary insertion on the proposed code.

PENREO representative was also present during the public hearing.


The 2nd Municipal Indigenous People's Day Celebration

October 12, 2019 - Indigenous people from Maddela, Quirino gathered together to celebrate
the 2nd Municipal Indigenous People's Day with the theme : Indigenous Culture with the
Millennial Age held at the Municipal Gymnasium. Hon. Romeo B. Namunne, IPMR headed the
event and the Sangguniang Bayan members were in full support. Participants from the 32
barangays paraded with pride to show their cultures and traditions. Public officials and members
of ethnic tribes were all present at the opening program, lunch were served and was followed by
a Laro ng Lahi. The celebration made way for fellowship with different ethnic groups in the
municipality.
A Lecture on Appropriation Ordinance - an aid to Barangay Officials
Sept. 4, 2019- An overwhelming attendance of barangay officials during the conduct of one day
lecture on Appropriation Ordinance conducted by the office of the Sanguniang Bayan through
Hon. Junard N. Ramos, Chairman on Appropriation in coordination with the Department of
Interior and Local Government -Maddela. The DILG personnel briefed barangay captains and
their respective chairman on appropriation on how to prepare their appropriation ordinance (in
aid for their barangay annual budget).

Barangay Captains with their Chairman on Appropriation intently participated on the lecture.

Mr. Baldovino Baldwin Valdez, MLGOO VI with DILG personnel gladly answered questions from the participants.
The fight against Soil Erosion the SCOPSA Way
October 3, 2019 - The Chairman, Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Orlando L. Salvador,
conducted a public hearing on Ordinance Implementing the Sustainable Corn Production on
Sloping Areas (SCOPSA). Famers with sloping areas attended the hearing and was
enlightened with the proposed ordinance. The objective of the proposed ordinance is to
encourage farmers to adapt technologies to help prevent soil erosion along hilly areas. The
Department of Agriculture's Sustainable Corn Production on Sloping Areas (SCOPSA)
program aims to increase farmers' income by at least 10 percent through the adoption of
appropriate soil conservation measures.
