1. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS / SIGNIFICANT OF THESE THEORIES?
A. Behaviorism
B. Cognitivism
C. Constructivism
D. Experientialism
E. Socialism

2. WHAT ARE THE IMPACT OF THESE IF APPLIED IN PRESENT EDUCATIVE PROCESSES AND
SYSTEM?

ANSWERS :

1.

A. BEHAVIORISM
- is the theory that human or animal psychology can be objectively studied
through observable actions ( behaviors ). This field of study came about as a reaction to 19 th
century psychology, w/c used self-examination of ones thoughts and feeling to examine human
and animal psychology.
Behaviorism can still be seen in the modern-day classroom, where operant
conditioning is used to reinforce behaviors .For example, a teachers may give a prize to students
who perform well on test, or punish a student who misbehaves by giving him or her a detention.
Though behaviorism was once the dominant trend in psychology in the mid-20th
century, it has since lost traction to cognitive psychology, w/c compares the mind to an
information processing system, like a computer.
B. COGNITIVISM
- is the study in psychology that focuses on mental processes, including how
people perceive, think, remember, learns, solve problems, and direct their attention to one
stimulus rather than the another
Contemporary research often links cognitivism to the view that people process
information as computers do, according to specific rules; in this way, it is related to studies in
artificial intelligence. In addition, cognitivism has influenced education, as studied of how people
learn potentially sheds light on how to teach most effectively.

C. CONSTRUCTIVISM
- is a method of therapy that focusses on both the internal and external system
of meaning-making. It is also an approach that also combines other forms of psychotherapy,
including cognitive behavioral therapy.
Constructivism theory is based on the idea that everyone sense of knowing is
more than a passive expression of the world around us but instead is a result of our construction,
or our beliefs and emotion about experiences in our lives. It simply refers to the way we build
our own understanding of the world around us and how to fix on it.

D. EXPERIENTIALISM
-is the philosophical theory that experiences the source of knowledge. One of
the implication of this is that the role for practitioners is not about teaching specific knowledge
or training fixed behaviors, but is one of helping the learners discover approaches that work for
them .Facilitations is about creating and providing space for learners to try out something new,
reflect on their experiences, arrive at new conclusions and think about how they would apply
these conclusion in their work and life. In this view, people learn for themselves w/ a bit of help
and assistance, rather than have it done to or for them. And that is where simulations offer most
education value, not product but process, the articulation of rules and relationship- the basis of
experiential learning.
E. SOCIALISM
- socialism consists of a synthesis of beliefs, aspirations, and ideas of reform w/c
appeals profoundly to the mind. It is important to improve by both technology and better social
organizational, and many modern socialist share this belief. Socialist advocate the creation of an
egalitarian society, in w/c wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is
considerable disagreement among socialist over how and to what extent this could be achieved.

2. IMPACT TO EDUCATION
A. BEHAVIORISM
- one of the greatest strengths of behaviorism psychology is the ability to clearly
observe and measure behavior. Weaknesses of this approach include failing to address cognitive
and biological processes that influence human actions while the behavioral approach might not
be the dominant force that it once was, it has still had a major impact on our understanding of
human psychology. The conditioning process alone has been used to understand many different
types of behaviors, ranging from how people learn to how language develops.
But perhaps the greatest contributions of behavioral psychology lie in its
practical applications. Its techniques can play a powerful role in modifying problematic behavior
and encouraging more positive, helpful responses outside of psychology, parents, teachers,
animal trainers, and many others make use of basic behavioral principles to help new behaviors
and discourage unwanted one.

B. COGNITIVISM
- teachers are expected to teach their subject in accordance w/ the principles of
cognitive learning theories .New curriculum programs urge them to embrace and practice those
teaching approaches that pay attention to individual differences in students; cognitive structures
or previous knowledge bases in order to help student integrate new knowledge w/ the
knowledge they already have. Omnipresent in new curriculum development is the innovative
ways that not only facilitate but also optimize students learning to the greatest extent possible.
Because cognitivism is concerned w/ illuminating how the process of learning occurs in different
context by offerings strategies that promote students learning, paradigm in their effort to help
students attain the subject goals.
C. CONSTRUCTIVISM
- in order to apply social constructivism theories in the education arena,
teachers and school leaders need to shift and reshape their perspective. Both must move from
being “people who teach’’ to being ‘’facilitators of learning’’. A good constructivist teacher is one
who questions students answer; w/o regard to whether they are right or wrong, to make sure
the students has a good grasp of the concept .Additionally, instructors should have their students
explain the answer s they give and not allow students to use words or equations w/o explanation.
They should also encourage students to reflect their answers.

D. EXPERIENTIALISM
- experience anything to learn it. Education should be a study of social
problems and how it solved. Students shouldn’t be taught what to think. But how to think
.Experientialism believes that this are constantly changing. It is based on the view that reality is
what works right now and that goodness comes from group decisions. As a result, schools exist
to discover and expand the society we live in. Students study social experiences and solve
problems.

E. SOCIALISM
- under socialism, education shall take on a new meaning, just like work will take on
a new meaning. Education will be a far more appreciated, and the pursuit of learning and the
acquisition of knowledge will replace the base pursuit of personal wealth that we walk over each
other to achieve under capitalism. will emerge independent thinkers, not docile wage slaves.
Learning new things and benefitting society w/ this knowledge will be the driving force of life,
and not simply ‘’making a living’’. Once social ownership of The educational institutions replaces
states and private ownership, the full potentials of education for people of all age groups will be
possible, and only then. Capitalism is the worst thing for education in the future, and will lead to
nothing but a nihilistic, competitive outlook w/c makes learning under capitalism the same type
of burden as working under this system; and continually incites the younger members of society
to avoid it.

1. Give your position and perception with basis from education philosophies and legal basis the
quotation of:
WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS
‘’ EDUCATION IS NOT THE FILLING OF A PAIL BUT THE LIGHTNING OF FIRE’’
- In modern times there are opposing views about the practice of education. There is
no general agreement about what the young should learn either in relation to virtue
or in relation to the best life; nor is it clear whether their education ought to be
directed more toward the intellect than towards the character of the soul…And it is
not certain whether training should be directed at things useful in life, or at those
conducive to virtue or at non- essentials. And there is no agreement as to what in
fact does tend towards virtue. Men do not all prize most highly the same virtue, so
naturally they differ also about the proper training for it.
- Aristotle wrote a passage more than 2300 yrs. Ago, and today educators
are still debating the issues he raised. Different approaches to resolving these and
other fundamentals issues have given rise to different schools of thought in the
philosophy of education.
- Each education philosophies has many supporter among the educators
today. Taken together, these philosophies do not exhaust the list of possible
educational philosophies you may adopt, but certainly present strong framework
from which you can create your own educational philosophy.

2. NAME AND EXPLAIN THESE 3 APPLIED KNOWLEDGE ON THE CORE OF PHILOSOPHY OF

EDUCATION THAT CAN REFLECT ON IT NEW FORM SUITED TO THE 21ST CENTURY?

Dewey was known as the father of progressive education and was an advocate of
social learning. More than fifty years of his death, some of his ideas and philosophies
although looking very different, are being used to promote students engagement in
classroom through the use of technology. ‘’Our world today has become the
electronic world’’. With technology driving the social lives of students, its use is a
effective way to promote students engagement, resulting in a passion for lifelong
learning. Teachers have a responsibility to provide a new level of instruction that is
relevant, effective and socially engaging for students. Through the use of tools such
as cellphones, texting ,instant messaging, chat room, and wikis, teachers can instruct
students using the tools that they are already comfortable with, to most effectively
disperse information and academic content. By designing instruction to meet the
social needs of students through the use of appropriately aligned technology,
Deweys social learning theory is evident in these classrooms.
