Figure 1

Figure 1

1.) At Figure 1, this is the worksheet for “given listing”. I inputted every data that are given for constant “K”
formula.
I made a table for data of structure like force, displacement, bar length, and they are aligned to a
corresponding bar and nodes. I make sure that the nodes or every point of action are named each.

Figure 2
2.) I produce another worksheet as shown in figure 2 to make a complete element stiffness matrix for every
bar. The matrix has 12x12 size and some cell have a formula that make a set of values that will make your
constant matrix complete.

Figure 3

3.) At Figure 3, these are the formulas that are responsible for every value that are in the matrix in the figure 2.

The value of course of every variable are already in there so you can make formulated cell.

This is how I made the cell D6 in fig. 2 as it has the formula of AE/L that are projected from matrix in fig 3:

=(D23*D22)/D21

And so on.

4.) I did this pattern for every bar.

Figure 4

5.) These are my Global Stiffness Matrix I just input all constant matrix and aligned to a corresponding Force
and displacement. If there are two cell overlapped because 2 bars may consist of same nodes I add the value
of the two same size matrix.

At figure 4 I made a 240x240 matrix.

Figure 5
6.) In figure 5 I arrange them into Kff, Kfs, Kss, Ksf matrix. Each of them have corresponding color and here is
the list

Yellow: Kff

Light red: Kfs

Gray: Ksf

Green: Kss

Figure 6

Theoretically to find the displacement using a solved constant. We use the formula:

Displacement = (inverse of Kff) x Given Force

7.) Using the function of MINVERSE in excel I find the inverse of Kff and I use the function of MMULT to multiply
it to Given Force so I found the Value of every Unknown displacement
8.) I solve the unknown reaction by this formula:

Force = Kfs x Displacement

By using MMULT function I input the array of Ksf and the column of displacement (from figure 6) to find the
unknown reaction.
