Syllabus in PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
Prepared by : Dr. Violeta L. Sarmiento
Credit Units: 3
Course Description:
The course offers knowledge and deep understanding on the ultimate goal of education based on basic
schools of educational philosophies as implemented in education. This is perceived as the personal effort to arrive
at solutions for educational problems based upon the experiences of thinkers. Also involves a deep comprehension
of the learners that throughout man’s existence on earth, he has been longing and striving for things which are
good for the body and soul which is innate in man, and it is his hope with much determination and courage, to
overcome obstacles. With this thought, it is assumed that universal education is one such kind of education which
can help alleviate the difficulties of man, freeing him from the bondage of ignorance in the pursuit of peace and

multiplicity of human actions to one end which is the common good of all.
