Overview:
From 2004 to 2008, Cambodia's exports increased on average by 11.7 percent each year and amounted to 4.4 bln US$ (see table 1 and graph
1). During the same period, imports increased on average by 21 percent each year to 4.4 bln US$ (see table 2 and graph 1). The trade balance
recorded a deficit amounting to 58.5 mln US$, compared to a surplus of 734.8 mln US$ in 2004 (see graph 1). Large surpluses were recorded
with Developed North America (+2 bln US$) and Developed Europe (+0.7 bln US$) (see graph 2). Significant deficits were recorded with South-
Eastern Asia (-1.4 bln US$) and Eastern Asia (-1.3 bln US$). In 2008, trade was concentrated among a few partners: 6 (respectively 7) major
partners accounted for 80 percent of exports (respectively imports) (see graph 3). In addition, USA, the top partner for Cambodia's exports
was the destination of 45.2 percent of exported goods (see table 4).
