Assignment 2 – Assessment Plan
• Find a partner (or people)that you will work with. No more than 4 in
a group.
• Pick a place that you and that person (or people, no more than 4 in
a group) will go.
• Research that place to figure out all the cool things that you can do
while there. (www.diigo.com will help you with your research.)
• Find a place to stay while you are there (some may want a suite,
some may want a hotel)
• Find a way to get there (airplane, rental car, bus, train, etc.)
• Find activities to do while there (Disney World, shopping, beaches,
Times Square, etc.)
• Create a power point presentation, prezi presentation, or create a
poster to share with the class about your experience.
• ** Remember: you only have $500 (a piece) and you can’t
overspend! You also must get back home! Look for deals and find
the best ones! **
• You will have 2 coupons that you can use: one will be a 10%
discount on your rooming expense, and the other will be a 5%
discount on your travel arrangement.
• You must calculate all your spending on your “expense” sheet. Make
sure that you deduct your coupons and add your taxes (6% for
everything that you purchase.) You will be graded on the accuracy of
adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing your money.

Differentiated Student choice of which city they want to go to, who they want to go with,
Instruction as well as which activities they would do while they are there, travel
arrangements, and lodging accommodations. In addition, students were
able to pick groups, and all IEP and 504 accommodations were met.

Setting: This project will take place in a 6th grade math classroom at Durham Middle
School. Durham Middle School is part of the Cobb County School District
and is about 20 miles north of Atlanta. Student laptops will also be in the
classroom as the teacher has requested to use the laptops for this project.
Desks are in rows, but they will be pushed together in groups (once
students form their groups.)
Learners: There are 28 students in the classroom ages 11 and 12. They are all 6 th
graders. 61% of the students are Caucasian, 25% of the students are African
American, 7% of the students are Hispanic, and 7% of the students are two
or more races. This is an on-level 6th grade math class, with four students
with 504 plans, and two students with IEPs. The two students with IEPs do
not receive IEP support in math class related to math but may need some
support with the research aspect. There are 15 boys and 13 girls in the
class.
