Two methods can be used to set the IP address of the ifm IO-Link modules:

1. Use Ethernet Device Configuration Tool.


a. Free of charge software that is only used to set the IP address of the IO-Link module
Go to page 3 for instructions on downloading and setting the IP address using the Ethernet
Device Configuration Tool.

2. Use LR Device Software to:


a. Set the IP address of the IO-Link module
b. Read and write various configurations: Host names, I/O port settings, update rates, etc…
c. Detect and display IO-Link sensors connected to each port
d. Configure IO-Link devices through the IO-Link module when purchased and licensed version is
used
Go to page 9 for instructions on downloading and setting the IP address using LR Device.

1. Go to the ifm global site , select your country.


2. Text search “ethernet device config” to find the Ethernet Device Configuration Tool.
3. Click Show Downloads for this search term…

4. Download the Ethernet Device Configuration software found in the search results.
Note: A “my ifm” account must be created and logged in before downloading. Follow the prompts to create a “my
ifm” account.

5. From the Ethernet Device Confiuration software download, run the


EthernetDeivceConfiguration<Version>.msi to install the LR Device software.

6. Start the Ethernet Device Configuration software by going to Start-Hilscher-Ethernet

7. For StandardLine and PowerLine IO-Link modules (AL11xx or AL12xx) connect the
Ethernet cable to the port labeled X21.
For DataLine IO-Link Modules (AL13xx or AL19XX) connect the Ethernet cable to the port
labeled X23 (IoT).

8. Click Search Devices button to find the IO-Link modules connected to the PC.

9. The MAC address and IP address of the connected IO-Link modules are found.

10. To change the IP address, select the IO-Link master found in the list.
11. Click Configure-Set IP address.

12. Enter the IP address and Subnet Mask to be used in the IO-Link module’s application.
13. Click OK.

14. Verify the new IP address of the IO-Link module has been set by clicking the Search
Devices button.

1. Go to the ifm global site , select your country.


2. Enter “LR Device” in the text search to find the LR Device Software.
3. Click Show Downloads for this search term…

4. Download the LR Device software found in the search results.


Note: A “my ifm” account must be created and logged in before downloading. Follow the
prompts to create a “my ifm” account.

5. From the LR Device software download, run the LRDevice<Version>.exe to install


the LR Device software.

6. Start the LR Device by going to Start-ifm electronic-LR Device

LR Device is started in Limited mode. This is the unlicensed version of the software that
allows for configuring the IP Address of the AL1x2x.

7. If a licensed version was purchased go to step 8. If no license was purchased go to step 10.
8. Click on “Limited” to enter to be prompted to enter the license information.

9. Enter the License Number and License Key in the prompt.

10. Set the PC to a static IP address in the range of 192.168.1.X (X=1-249)


a. see appendix A for help

11. For StandardLine and PowerLine IO-Link modules (AL11xx or AL12xx) connect the
Ethernet cable to the port labeled X21.
For DataLine IO-Link Modules (AL13xx or AL19XX) connect the Ethernet cable to the
port labeled X23 (IoT).

12. Click the “+” under the ONLINE menu to add an AL1x2x device.

13. Enter the default IP address of the AL1x2x.


a. Default IP= 192.168.1.250

14. The AL1x2x will be found and shown under Online-Devices.


15. Click on the AL1x2x (192.168.1.250).

16. In the “All” parameters, enter the Ethernet/IP address to be used in the application.

17. Send the parameters to the AL1x2x by clicking the write icon in the toolbar in the top
right of the screen.

18. Power cycle the AL1x2x after the write is complete.

19. Change the static IP address of the PC to the new IP address range.

20. Click the Read from icon to read the parameters from the AL1x2x.

21. Verify the newly written IP address is read correctly.

Setting PC to static IP address

1. Go to the "Control Panel"
2. Click Network and Internet
3. Click "Network and Sharing Center"
4. On the left side choose "Change adapter settings"
5. Right click on Ethernet port to be used and from the drop-down
choose "Properties"
6. Click into the "Networking" tab choose
7. Under “This connection uses the following items” area scroll down
and single left click to highlight to "Internet Protocol Version 4
(TCP/IPv4
8. Click on "Properties" button
9. In next window you have option between "Obtain an IP Address
Automatically" and "Use the following IP Address"
10. Select "Use the following IP Address" to change IP address.
11. In the IP address field fill in 192.168.0.X
o X = any number between 1-254 and is not equal the product
that is to be connected.
To connect to ifm products the factory IP addresses are set as follows:
o VSExxx – 192.168.0.1
o AL10xx – 192.168.0.1
o AY10xx – 192.168.1.250
o AL1x2x – 192.168.1.250
o O2D22x – 192.168.0.49
o O2V1xx – 192.168.0.59
o O2I1xx – 192.168.0.79
o O3D2xx – 192.168.0.69
o O3D3xx – 192.168.0.69
o DTE1xx – 192.168.0.79
o DTE9xx – 192.168.0.1
11. In the Subnet Mask fill in 255.255.255.0.
12. Finally click on "OK" and your IP address will be changed
