The alleged inscription of pic-
tures of Chief Minister K
Chandrasekhar Rao as well as
TRS party symbol (car) and
logos of various welfare
schemes of the TRS govern-
ment on the pillars of the
Yadadri temple, presently
under renovation, has kicked
up a storm.
Although the TRS party
and the State government did
not react to the abortive bid
made by activists of Vishwa
Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal
and Hindu Parirakshana
Samithi to storm the temple on
Friday, the opposition parties,
particularly Congress and BJP,
accused KCR of trying to pro-
ject himself as a 'demi God' at
the cost of public money in the
name of Yadadri temple reno-
vation works.
Tension prevailed on the
premises of Yadadri shrine on
Friday when irate activists
tried to enter the temple osten-
sibly to register protest against
the 'politicisation' of Yadadri
temple by the TRS govern-
ment. Heavy police force was
deployed at the shrine to pre-
vent the protesters from enter-
ing the temple, resulting in

In what is seen as yet anoth-
er feather in the cap of India's
youngest State, the Centre has
been advised by an expert
panel to replicate the
Telangana Start-up Model in
other States.
In a significant develop-
ment, the expert committee, in
its report on 'Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises', has stat-
ed: "Telangana has adopted an
innovative model for a start-
up which may be assessed for
possible replication in other
states."
The UK Sinha Committee
report explained the Telangana
Start-up Model and suggested
that other states would do well
to replicate the Telangana
model.
Early this week, Union
Minister Nitin Gadkari had
stated that the Central gov-
ernment would consider the
recommendations of the UK
Sinha Committee report soon.
The Reserve Bank of India
(RBI) had constituted this
panel under the chairmanship
of former SEBI chairman UK
Sinha. The committee sub-
mitted a report to RBI
Governor in June 2019.

Woman scribe filmed at
lingerie store in Delhi

A 27-year-old woman jour-
nalist was allegedly filmed
while in the changing room at
a high-end lingerie store in
south Delhi's posh M-block
market in Greater Kailash,
police said on Friday.
The police have registered a
case in this regard but are yet
to make any arrests. The inci-
dent took place on August 31
and an FIR in this regard was
registered three days ago at the
Greater Kailash police station
under IPC Section 354 C
(voyeurism).
The complainant has
alleged that the shopkeeper
was watching the live footage
from the hidden camera in the
changing room when she was
inside. But as of now no action
has been taken against the
accused.

uled to make a soft-landing on
the surface of the moon at 1:55
am on Saturday. The tricky
manoeuvre of 35 km, till the
lander and the rover land on
the moon's surface without
any injury, will be "15 minutes
of terror" even for the top sci-
entists at space agency ISRO.
"It is like suddenly somebody
comes and gives you a new-
born baby in your hands. Will
you be able to hold without
proper support? The baby will
move this way that way but we
should hold it. It like that, the
lander will go this way or that
but at the same time it has to
be brought just like a baby,"

set to land on the lunar surface
at 1:55 am on Saturday.
The moon lander Vikram

Addressing a press confer-
ence late on Friday, Kishan Rao
asserted that there was nothing
wrong in inscribing the pic-
tures of great personalities in
temples. It was only an attempt
to tell future generations about
the existence of such great
personalities, he said.
"Neither KCR nor we have
given instructions to anyone to
inscribe pictures of KCR and
TRS. Hundreds of sculptors
are working day and night to
design the sculptures. The
sculptors themselves might have
been inspired by the great works

Telangana government is yet to
implement the penalties for
traffic violations under the
new Motor Vehicles (MV)
Act, which came into force
from September 1.
"Government is currently
studying the new amendments
and 'compounding fees' in the
Motor Vehicles Act 2019, soon
we will make a declaration,"
said State Transport Secretary,
Sunil Sharma.
The Transport Secretary was
not sure of when, and how.
When asked about amend-
ments in 'compounding fees'
he said, "Nothing is decided
yet. We will declare the infor-
mation soon after we make a
decision."
Not Just Telangana but six
other states, including the state
of Andhra Pradesh, Punjab,
Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal,
and Gujarat are yet to decide
and impose the stringent rules
of Motor Vehicles Act 2019.

amount of anxiety but there is no

The Supreme Court Friday
said the operational loss, if any,
in the 104 km long Phase IV of
the Delhi Metro project would
be borne by the Delhi govern-
ment as it is a mode of con-
veyance in the national capital.
The Delhi government is
bound to ensure that the finan-
cial health of Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation (DMRC) is main-
tained properly and no steps
are taken that might result in
losses, it said.
The top court however
directed that the land cost for
the project would be borne by
the Centre and the Delhi gov-
ernment equally, in 50:50 ratio.

the varsity's former vice-chan-
cellor Asis Datta said on Friday.
Datta is among the 12 pro-
fessors emeriti who have been
asked by the Jawaharlal Nehru
University (JNU) administra-
tion to submit their CVs for
evaluation, a move that has
drawn criticism from several
quarters, including the varsity's
teachers' association.
In a statement, Datta, who
has served the university for
good work a decade or two

tory, a chair or a table from JNU
after his retirement as he had

Minister Ajit Jogi, facing an

case, was admitted to a private
hospital in Delhi-NCR on

The FIR against Ajit Jogi, a
sitting MLA, was registered at
the Gaurela police station in
Bilaspur district on Thursday
night for allegedly obtaining a
fake caste certificate claiming

had said.

the last few days for his routine
medical check-up. On
Thursday at around midnight,
he complained of problem in
breathing following which he
was admitted at Medanta

media offerings early next

expand PTI's services and its

encouraging response and all

Tharoor has said the new man-
agement doesn't understand
the first thing about education
and that universities give the
professor emeritus status to
honour themselves.
After being slammed for
seeking Thapar's CV, the JNU
administration said in a state-
ment the letter it wrote to her
was not sent to discontinue her
association with the universi-
ty but to check whether the
professor emeriti is willing and
available to offer her services.
"When a professor retires or
reaches retirement age and the
university doesn't want to lose
its association with that par-
ticular person, they grant emer-
itus status," Tharoor told PTI.
He said the status of profes-
sor emeritus is given by uni-
versities to honour themselves.
"It cuts both ways. The pro-
fessor has an association but
no obligation. The universi-
ties, too, have no obligation,
they don't pay a salary but
they get the person's name
associated with them. That's
why it's something which
gives credibility to the uni-
versity," he said.
"Clearly, the new regime in
JNU doesn't understand this.
They don't even understand
the value of having such an
illustrious figure associated
with them. The new people
who are running this place
don't understand the first thing
about education," Tharoor said.

Maharashtra Government's
"heritage tourism" policy will
allow use of historical forts not
in the Archaeological Survey of
India (ASI) protected list for
promoting tourism, a senior
official said here on Friday.
The move has come under
flak from opposition parties
who said the plan to rent out
forts for heritage hotels and
wedding venues was an insult
to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
and his followers.
There are about 350 forts in
Maharashtra and this move will
give impetus to the local econ-
omy, state Tourism Secretary
Vinita Singhal told PTI.
"We don't plan to touch her-
itage forts which have historical
value and are protected under
the ASI like the Raigad fort. The
state government has already
budgeted over Rs 500 crore for
its upgradation," she said.
Singhal said there are many
which are not in the protected
list which are frequented by
people for picnics, hiking etc.
"These are blessed with beau-
tiful landscape and have history
and tradition and can be used
for tourism as we want to give
impetus to the local economy,"
she said.
On reports that the forts will
also be used as wedding venues
and heritage hotels, Singhal
said the policy also makes it
clear that the local flora and
fauna will be protected and no
permanent constructions in
the forts will be allowed. Social
events which fit into the fabri-
cof Maharashtra's political life
will be allowed, she said.
Condemning the move,
Leader of Opposition in the
Legislative Council Dhananjay
Munde said renting out forts
for heritage hotels and wedding
venues is an insult to
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
and his followers.
"This capitalist government
is planning to give away
Chhatrapati Shivaji's forts on
rent," Munde said, warning
the government against touch-
ing the forts.
He said these forts may have
become old but history was
very much alive in them.
"If you can't protect the his-
tor y and legacy of
ShivajiMaharaj, lakhs of his fol-
lowers like us are still around
to look after them. The gov-
ernment shouldn't play with
emotions of Shiv bhakts (devo-
tees of Shivaji)," he said.
Munde said the Modi gov-
ernment gave the historical
Red Fort on lease and now the
state government is following
suit. MNS leader Anil Shidore
said the government shouldn't
commercialise the state's pride
and history which is a trea-
sured legacy. Congress leader
Muzaffar Hussain said the gov-
ernment may even sell off the
forts in future. "Should we
keep quiet," he said.
Clarifying the government's
position after criticism over
'misuse' of forts, Singhal said
the state has two types of forts:
Category 1, which includes
forts which are closely linked
to the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji
Maharaj and other historical
significance and Category 2,
which includes around 300
other forts. Category 1 comes
under the protected list and
ASI looks after them, she said.

Ram Nath Kovind during his
second year in office. The

(vol. 2)' and 'Loktantra ke Swar
(khand 2)' have been brought
out by the Publications
Division under Ministry of
Information & Broadcasting.
Referring to a quote from the
books on India's commitment
to protecting the sovereignty of
the country through peaceful
means, the vice president said
India has always strongly
adhered to the values of peace
and cooperation but warned
the country would give a befit-
ting reply to any acts of aggres-
sion against it.
"If you go through the his-
tory of India, it was never an
aggressor, never attacked any
country in spite of being
known as 'vishwaguru' (world
leader), in spite of having max-
imum GDP, much before oth-
ers. India never attacked any
other country," Naidu said.
"All other Tom, Dick and
Harry came and attacked us,

ed us... But we Indians, never

said, adding that this has been
stressed by the president in his

were informed about the inci-
dent. We reached the post-
mortem house. As all of us were
very upset, we could not under-
stand what to do," Rajiv said in
his complaint.
"Later, when we went through
media reports and photographs
of the incident, a suspicion came
in mind. We gave a complaint to
the police demanding his
(Umesh) arrest as he is posted in
Lucknow and has good contacts

very end of his life, knowing fully well
that his days were numbered.
Despite his protracted illness, he
never showed any inkling of nervous-
ness in his writing and kept on serv-

at around Rs 450 crore, the
order has been placed... by
NTPC-SAIL Power Company (a
joint venture of NTPC and
SAIL)," BHEL said in a
statement. The order involves
supply and installation of flue
gas desulphurisation (FGD)
system. BHEL's scope of work
includes design, engineering,
civil works, supply, erection
and commissioning of wet

The government is expected to
soon announce measures for
certain sectors, including gems
and jewellery, to boost the
country's subdued exports, an
official said.
Finance and commerce
ministries have held several
round of talks on these mea-
sures, the official said.
As part of a proposal that is
under consideration, the gov-
ernment may extend the dead-
line for removal of tax benefits
to units in the special eco-
nomic zones (SEZs).
In the Union Budget 2016-17,
it was announced that income
tax benefits to new SEZ units
would be available to only those
entities that commence activi-
ty before March 31, 2020.
For the labour-intensive gems
and jewellery sector, the gov-
ernment is looking at cutting
import duty on coloured gem
stones and polished diamonds
from the current 7.5 per cent.
There is also a consideration
to increase the insurance cov-
erage by the Export Credit
Guarantee Corporation of India
for export credit from the cur-
rent 60 per cent to 90 per cent.
This would enable banks to
provide more export credit at
competitive rates.

by composing music for wedding films.
As we all know, making music is no
child’s play. “I first look at the visuals,
get to know the couple’s love story and
compose a draft. I then compose a tune
before going deep into the lyrics. I write
my lyrics on my own as I like them to
be simple and understandable. I then
line up all the instruments in music pro-
gramming and that’s how I compose a
song. It takes a week to compose each
personalised song. I have many musi-
cian friends, so whenever needed I take
them to the studio and record music.
It would be a freelance project for
them.”
“I approached a few top wedding
firms and one of my friends Vijay and
I got together to create something new
that no one has attempted yet. He has
a firm and I have the stuff to produce
music tracks for wedding films and
that’s how things are progressing as of
now. We have been receiving nothing
but love from all corners. Producing a
wedding song, which is as grand as a
film song is difficult. But we took it up
as a challenge as that song will always
be remembered by couples for years to
come. We recently composed a song for
Ramoji Rao’s grand daughter’s wedding.
There are so many celebrity projects
going on in Vijayeesam and we hope to
produce some killer stuff in the com-
ing days,” he gushes.
Most music composers worth their
salt say that A.R. Rahman is their inspi-
ration. Paul is no less. He said, “He is
my inspiration for many reasons. His
hard work achieving the success he has
now by starting on a blank slate, his
behaviour and much more.”
Every off-beat career path needs mas-
sive support from someone. In his case
he says it was his mother who backed
his endeavours. “My mom gave me
immense support when everyone
believed that the music industry is not
a good career choice. And my wife has
also supported me all through. In fact
she is a very good singer, but only likes
to sing for my songs. My dad was my
childhood hero. He plays the guitar and
watching him that rhythm stuck in my
head. Mom was a good vocalist too. My
parents are retired teachers and are hap-
pily earning well in music after retire-
ment. I feel I’m blessed to have such
great parents and family.”
Entering the music industry seemed
destined for Paul as he was someone
who used to play the drums on any pos-
sible surface since he was 3-years-old.
“I used to play drums everywhere. On
utensils, wooden doors everywhere. My
parents understood that I was special
and from the time I turned 6, I used to
play drums in church and family
events. Few years later in college, the
chairman encouraged me to record an
album for a youth fest, which was
released by actor Rana Daggubati. My
college chairman N. Satish Reddy's
encouragement means a lot to me and
that’s how I started my music journey.
That day was a turning point in my
career. If not, like many youngsters, I
would’ve taken up a normal job and led
a normal life. But I did not want it to
be that way. I’m doing what I love and
earning well. That’s what my parents
wanted too. For me everything is musi-
cal including the way I honk my car
horn.”
“I initially started composing for
short films, devotional albums and
independent music before entering
the wedding music scene as I feel there’s
something special in this. I found it
interesting that I get to know lots of real
life stories and help them make it eter-
nal by composing a song for them.

of support to me by helping me be a
part of his wedding films,” he adds.

The next inevitable question would be ‘Which is
more enticing?’ Composing for wedding films or
films? “Both,” he replies and adds, “I love compos-
ing. But wedding music is my idea so I have a spe-
cial interest in it. Film music is interesting too as
it has a lot of content to work on and it’s based com-
pletely on a particular story line. Besides films give
a lot of exposure. If all goes well I hope to compose
music for my favorite actor, Allu Arjun one day. I
have lot of music and background score ideas for
him,” said the 28-year-old Paul.
But every story has a struggle right? Not really
he says. “Initially, I did not know whom to meet and
whom to trust. After my engineering I was in a
dilemma as to where to start. I was doing lots of
concerts and devotional music events. Then by
God’s grace, few people who had heard my music
albums came up to me and asked me to compose
for them. Slowly I started gaining faith and learnt
how to talk to people and producers.”

dad play the guitar and played that too. I even learnt
driving that way. I think God has given me the gift
of learning by watching. But definitely I might have
been a pro if I had attended music college. But back
then, middle class parents generally wanted their
kids to be engineers or get a government job. But
as I was good at music my mom supported me and
made my dad understand that I had a future in
music,” he elaborates.
“There’s so much to do in the coming days. I have
so many projects including video songs, indepen-
dent music, films etc. I would like to thank every-
one for all that they have done for me,” he concludes
on a note of gratitude.

the country on Thursday after claiming
nine medals, including five golds, at the
recently-concluded ISSF World Cup in Rio
de Janeiro.
"The number of medals that our
shooting team has won is commendable
and I congratulate the entire team for the
outstanding performance," Rijiju told
reporters after meeting the team here.
"We are going to set the record of high-
est number of athletes, in terms of partic-
ipation, in shooting for Tokyo Olympics.
We have already secured nine berths and
I am told there is a possibility of 12 quota
places.
The Sports Ministry had recently
written to UK Secretary of Sport for shoot-
ing's re-inclusion in the Birmingham
Commonwealth Games.
Asked about the issue, Rijiju said:
"India is one of the most important
nations in the Commonwealth Games
Federation and excluding shooting from
2022 has upset all of us.
"...The decision was taken in the
CWG organising executive committee,
there were no Indians to put up India's
case. So it is not proper to take a decision
which is not in the interest of India because
everybody knows India has the greatest
strength in shooting.
"We will take it up through diplomat-
ic channels also but since it is a sporting
event, we would prefer that the CWG exec-
utive committee considers our case, or else
we will be very upset and register our
protest. I have already written a letter so
