BUILDING CAPACITY FOR EXECELLENCE:

1. Build a solid relationship with God based on LOVE. This will give you acess to the
things that God have prepared for you. It help you build up your spiritual life that gets you
rooted in Christ Jesus.

1Co 2:9-12 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath
revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things
of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?
even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that
are freely given to us of God.” And Joshua 1.8 reveals that true success is in God through
Christ Jesus, the word.

Dan 6:3 - Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an
excellent spirit [was] in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. This
heathen king preferred Daniel a stranger to all his nobles and those he was familiar with,
because the graces of God were more excellent in him than in others. Daniel loved God
with all is being and was fervent in the Spirit. No wonder God pured upon him and put in
him the Spirit without measure - excellent spirit.

2. Engage yourself in reading and studying in the area of your giftings. This will help
develop your skills in your giftings. In 2Ti 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” If you are
giving to study you will not be put to shame because you will have develop the capacity
needed for excellence. (2 Tim.4.13;Dan.9.2.)

3. Trade the gift by putting it to work. Your profting can only by exercising the gift.In
Mat 25:15-18 “And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to
every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that
had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five
talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had
received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.” It takes wisdom to
know what to do with our giftings, the first two servants that were given talents y traded
with their gift. The master only gave them the gift, but the trading of the gift was there own
initiatives. And where commended when the master came back. This reveals that God
expects us to exercise our gift if we must attain excellence.

4. Attitude: Gift will lift you up but character keeps you on top. It is quite easier to get
to the top than to remain on top. Having the right attitude is very important as it gurantees
excellence. Integrity, deligence, self control, fear of God (Gen.49.1-3; Dan.2.3-6; Pro.
12.27, 22.29.) as could be seen in the lives of Jeseph, Daniel and his friends gave them a
place in the land where they were slaves, While Esau and Reuben could not excell in life
due to lack of right attitude. In Dan 6:3, “--- Then this Daniel was preferred above the
presidents and princes,.... Not only above the princes, but the presidents, being the first of
them, he was victorious above them because he displayed high level of intergrity and he
got more credit and applause than they did, being more exact, diligent, and laborious,
faithful, and conscientious.

Finally, Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. (Phillip. 2.) Having the
right attitude is having the fruits of the Holy Spirit manifesting in your life. I call it the
character of a true christian. It will help you a great deal in the pusuit of excellence in life.
