A Technology Enhanced Detailed Lesson Plan in [Subject Area]

Designed by
NICHOLE HULAR PENASCOSAS

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
 Identify straight and curve lines; and flat and curve surfaces on a 3-dimensional object.
 Differentiate objects with straight and curved lines and objects with flat and curve surfaces.
 : Enhance perception on 3-dimensional objects.

II. Subject Matter

A Topic:
Identifying Lines and Surfaces on 3-dimensional Objects

B. Materials:
Pringle’s can, ball, stamp box, gift box, oblong-shaped coin bank

A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES surface and forming patterns using
shapes.
Routine: We covered a surface of a paper
 Prayer using different shapes.
 Energizer (“Square and Circle”) We used squares, rectangles and
 Checking of Attendance triangles in tessellating surfaces.

1. Review Triangle.
Yesterday, you have discussed about tessellation. Square
Can you tell me what you have learned about tessellation?

What activities about tessellation did you do?

What shapes did you use in tessellating surfaces?

But first, what shapes are these?
I have here a big triangle.
Who can go to the board and cover this big triangle’s
surface with these shapes?

eraser-rectangle
electric fan-circle
charts-rectangle
flashcards-square

Square.
Its edges are straight.
It has a flat surface.
Motivation

Class, look around our classroom. What different objects

do you see? Can you give one and tell me its shape?

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
1. Presentation/Discussion
Class, I am going to show you few objects. Tell me what
shape does it has and describe its lines and surfaces. Cube.

What shape does this object have?

What can you say about its edges? Its shape is rectangle.
How about its surface? It has straight lines and flat surface.
Very good! Now class, this object
is called a CUBE.
Again, what do we call this?

How about this? What shape

does it has? Rectangular Prism
Describe its lines and surfaces.
We call this object a This object is triangle-shaped.
RECTANGULAR PRISM. It has a straight line.
What kind of object is it? It has a flat surface.

How about this? Can you describe its shape?

Does it has a straight or curve line?
How about its surface? Is it flat or curve?
This object is called a PYRAMID. It is a Pyramid.
Again, what is it?

This object is called a CYLINDER.

Can you describe its lines ad surface? It has curve lines and flat surface.
Again, what do we call this object? Cylinder.

Now, I have here a box with different objects. I will call few
of you and get one here. Then, you will name the object you
got and describe its lines and surface. Are you ready?
Yes Ma’am.

This is a Santa hat.

It has a straight line
and a flat surface.

This is a gift box.

It has a straight line
and a flat surface.

This is a milk box.

It has a straight line
and a flat surface.

This is a glass.
It has curve lines and
a curve surface.

Group Activity
This time, we will have a group activity, I will group you into
three groups based from your seats. Before the activity, may 1. Share your ideas. /Cooperate with
I ask, what are the standards to be followed in doing a group the group.
activity? 2. Read and follow directions
carefully.
 Standards 3. Work quietly.
 Distribution of Activity Sheets 4. Finish your work on time.
 Reporting
 Checking/Giving Marks
I will give you few objects and a piece of manila paper. You will
follow the directions found in the activity sheet I will give you.
Directions: Fill the table with correct information from the
object given to you.
Group 1: coke can, chocolate box, heart-shaped chocolate,
cube, dice, ball
Group 2: aquarium, dice, marble, chocolate bar, notebook,
globe
Group 3: pringle’s can, dice, ball, stamp box, gift box,
oblong-shaped coin bank

C. POST-ACTIVITY
Generalization
What characteristics of an object have we discussed today?
Objects can have what kinds of line? Lines and surface of objects.
How about surfaces, what kinds of surface can an object Straight and curve lines.
have?
It can be flat or curve surface.
What are the examples of objects with straight line and a flat
surface?
Books, notebook, table, chairs,
What are the examples of objects with curve lines and curve blackboard
surfaces? Balls, coke can, heart-shaped box,
marble, aquarium, oblong-shaped
Application coin bank
Write curve or flat to describe the surface of the following
objects.
1. plate
2. television
3. pail

Draw (straight) or (curve) line to describe the

lines of the following objects.
1. wheel
2. bed
3. kettle
4. pan
IV. Evaluation
Box the object with straight line and a flat surface. Encircle the objects with curve line
and curve surface.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Draw 2 objects with straight line and flat surface and 3 objects with curve line and curve surface.
