cooking purpose but when it comes to external use, they are very much prudent and often look out for
satisfying answers that can help them in the best possible way, because the olive oil has various
classifications which often create confusion.

Organic Olive oil is basically a natural oil which is extracted by various natural processes and is thus in
much demand. It is mainly classified as virgin, extra virgin and refined depending on certain
characteristics. Before answering the question, let us have a clear picture of olive oil.

Olive oil is mainly comprised of four types. Let’s have a discussion of all these individually:

1. Extra Virgin Olive oil : This is one of the best qualities of oils which are often expensive as
compared to the other ones. It has the lowest acidity content and is often rich in various
ingredients like anti-oxidants and many others minerals which are usually not there in other oils.
One of the best facts about evoo is that it has a low smoking point i.e. one can cook in this oil at
low temperatures. It is also known by the name of cooking olive oil. The concept of low smoke
point means it saves a lot of fuel and as required for the cooking process. It is completely
unrefined oil and is thus better than the others. It adds a unique flavor in the food and is often
greenish in looks. The best possible use of this natural oil is for dressings of salads.

2. Refined Olive Oil : It is mainly found in our grocery stores at our home and forms an essential
part of our kitchen. But on a general note, this cooking olive oil is inferior to virgin and extra
virgin olive oil due to lack in some vitamins or content wise. More or less, it lacks in some anti-
oxidants which is considered best for our hairs. Still it is taken into account when it comes to
making dishes.

3. Virgin Olive oil : This is third category of olive oil which is equally comparative to above two. It is
merely unrefined type of olive oil. Thus there is no chemical or heat is required for its extraction.
The basic and only difference between this and extra-virgin olive oil is just the high level of
acidity content. It finds various applications in the food and beverage industry as well as in the
cosmetics. However, one can make its use for baking as well.

4. Pure olive oil : This is last but not the least; it is basically a mixture of extra virgin and refined
olive oil. Besides having low nutritional value. It has more external applications and is hardly
used for cooking purposes. It is great for hair, skin, etc. The reason why this I not recommended
for cooking is the pungent smell associated with it.

question, the answer is already with you. Extra-virgin olive oil and pure olive oil are best for hair.
