SOCIAL STRESSORS NEGATIVE LIFE EVENTS
Miguel-(Father) deceased. Described as strict
disciplinarian. And uses physical violence
when disciplining his children. Away most of the
time because of his business. Patient
claims he is not close to him and does not confide to
him.
Luz-(Mother) deceased. College undergraduate,
housewife, got married at age 25.
Meticulous and personally took care of her children. threaten to hurt him physically
She expects much from her children.
Patient claims he is close to his mother. He confides
to her his problems. She loves her
son very much and is very protective of him.
Catherine-(Sister) 64 years old, single, worked as him, oftentimes stealing his packed
a nurse in the US. She is very close to
the patient and the patient was saddened when she
had to leave for the states last
November 1981. She gave the patient money for
daily expenses and understands her
brother's ilness.
Grace-(Sister) 60 years old, separated with one
child after being married for 7 years, a
graduate of Medical Technology but did not pass the
licensure exam. She worked as an
Insurance Agent, stays in the same house with the
patient but not very close to him
because they have frequent arguments especially
when he is symptomatic. She is
concerned about her brother's illness and wants him
to get well.
At age 6 the patient would not be allowed by his
mother to play in the street with other children.
- Patient was not able to experience to play
with other people specially with his same
age.
His mother expected him to perform well in
school and his father wants the patient to
always comply with him that makes his father
- the patient termed as a very strict way of
disciplining him which made him hate his
father.
At the age of 13, his schoolmates started to bully
lunch. He became withdrawn from these
classmates and felt anxious when around these
people.
He did not finish his third year in high
school. There were times he would be seen crying
by himself, and to his mother.
At age 17, he applied in Ateneo de Manila to
pursue a degree in Business Managrnent. He
failed the admission test.
- He felt embarassed about the result and he
did not admit the fact to himself. He was
always bothered and distracted, very
worried, he cannot sleep, he did not have
appetite to eat. He stayed in his room
most of the time.
At age 22, he learned about his father's extra
marital affair which caused him to become
depressed.
- He felt very angry and betrayed. He was
so affected that he hated his mother,
father and aunt for allowing this to
happen.
At age 27, he met Carla. They became close
and entered into a relationship for 5 months.
But after her graduation he learned about the
plan of his girlfriend's family of migrating to
US.
 - He was noted to be violent once again.
Punching himself in the arms, throwing
objects at his relatives and banging his
head on the sofa,would break valuable
things in the house. He heard voices
telling him "Walang kang kwenta and he
never entered into another relationship
after this.

At age 31, he was consistently well and was

given a job by a family relative to work in
factory that they own.
- During this tune he took shabu with his co
workers which made him feel "good and
energetic."

At age 33, both of his parents died due to

vehicular accident.
- he blamed himself for their death
claiming "Wala ako doon para iligtas
sila". He even missed eating and taking a
bath beacuse of this.
