I. Objectives:
At the end of 45 minutes demonstration, the students will be able:
1. to determine the basic Table feature of MS Word:
• insert a table into a document
• merge cells in a table
• add graphics and text in a table
2. to demonstrate skills in creating a calendar using MS Word application.
3. to state the importance of the preservation of the world’s famous landmarks

3. Motivation:
Present the video clip. Facilitate a discussion on world’s famous landmarks.

B. Presentation
1. Explain to students that they are going to research the world’s famous
landmarks. Then, they are going to create a one-month calendar that depicts one
of the world’s famous landmarks,
2. Show the students a finished sample and tell them that is what they will be
creating.
3. Introduce the Terms:
A table is made up of rows and columns of cells that you can fill with text and
graphics. Tables are often used to organize and present information.

It's helpful to know what the various


parts of a table are called.
(1) column
(2) row
(3) cell
4. Demonstrate the procedures on how to create a calendar using the table feature
of MS Word.

Insert a new table into your document:


(1) Click to place your insertion point where you want the table to appear.
(2) Click the Table on the Main Menu.
(3) Select Insert
(4) Select Table
(5) Give your table dimension (columns = 7 rows = 8)

Merge cells in a table:


(1) Select the cells that you want to merge.
(2) Click Table on the main menu.
(3) Select Merge Cells.

Add a graphic into a cell


You may also insert a graphic into a table cell just as you do in the body of your
document, by pasting or using the options on the Insert menu.
1) Select the image from the website.
2) Right click on the image
3) Select Copy Image
4) Right Click on the document where you want to place the image.
5) Select Paste.
You may align the text and graphics inside the table just as you do in the body of
your document. (by clicking on center icon of the formatting toolbar)

Add text to a table:


To add text to any cell in your table, simply click in the cell and begin typing.
When you finish typing the text you need in any cell, you can press the TAB key
or the ARROW keys to move to the next cell.
