CHAPTER 1

INDUSTRY PROFILE

1
Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS)

DMLS process enables the fabrication of fully dense 3D Structures by selective melting of micro-
sized metal powder using a high-intensity laser beam.Due to its ability to form fully dense
structures, the mechanical properties are equivalent to those achieved by the use of conventional
manufacturing methodology.

EOS M290

DMLS uses a variety of alloys so as to offer durability, rigidity, lightweight solutions and other
characteristics to fabricate the metal parts.Metal AM is used across a vast number of industry
sectors including Automotive, Medical and Tooling and Automation.

2
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

Laser Sintering (LS)—often called Selective Laser Sintering or SLS is an additive manufacturing
process that enables the fabrication of polymer based 3D structures directly from digital data.

During the process ,micro-sized polymer powder is selectively sintered to form a 3D Structure in
a layer by layer methodology. Thus, eliminating the need for any dye or remnant material. LS parts
have exceptional strength, accurate dimensions, light weight and heat resistant properties.

Computer Numerical Control (CNC)

Subtractive Machining is a vital part of ensuring the post-processing smoothness. With the aid of
CNC machining, a large portion of the aftermath is rectified and finishing follows right after. Some
components need to be cut from the base plate with precision after Additive Manufacturing and

Conformal Cooling

Conformal cooling channel is a cooling passageway which follows the shape or profile of the
mould core or cavity to perform rapid uniform cooling process for injection moulding or blow

Vacuum Casting Setup

 Step 1. Master Patterns

Patterns are 3D solids of your CAD designs. They are usually made by CNC machining or with
3D plastic printing such as SLA/SLS. You can supply your own patterns or we can make them for
you. Patterns need to be able to withstand heating to 40°C.

 Step 2. Making the Moulds

Casting molds are made from liquid silicone. This silicone is poured around the master pattern
inside of a casting box, and then allowed to cure in an oven for 16 hours. Once dried, the mold is
cut open and the master removed, leaving behind an empty cavity in the exact negative shape of
the original.

8
 Step 3. Casting Copies
Your choice of casting resins can now be poured into the empty cavity to create a highly accurate
copy of the original. It’s even possible to overmold with two or more materials. Silicone molds are
typically good for 20 or so copies of the master pattern.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

39
Main objective:

Comparative study of Company Profile.

I have study the B2B Strategy of the company.

SUB OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

To know about the customers satisfaction.

To understand the various promotional activities.

To analyse the performance of the customer from varied demographic.

DATA COLLECTION:
The data required for the study may be collected either from Primary source or the secondary
sources. A major portion of the data in the study has been collected through the secondary source
of data. Secondary source of data include.

I have collected the data from 36 companies which are also our customers, which purchase material
from our company during long period of time

I also collected data from where I have work in the organization the data like Researchers data,
Replacement data, Punching the bills through this work I have collected the data.

Type of the study:

The study is generally descriptive in nature, as it studies the performance of the Objectify
Technologies Pvt. Ltd. It also study the company growth rate performance measures.

DEPENDABILITY
Dependability saves time – Managers and workers spending time firefighting chaos, simply waste
time! If they had machinery and services that they could depend on, much valuable time would be
saved to concentrate on other aspects of the business.
Dependability saves money – Ineffective use of time will translate into extra costs.

40
Dependability gives stability – The disruption caused to operations by a lack of dependability goes
beyond time and cost. It affects the ‘quality’ of the operation’s time.

FLEXIBILITY
Product/service flexibility – the operation’s ability to introduce new or modified products and
services.
Mix flexibility – the operation’s ability to produce a wide range or mix of products and services.
Volume flexibility – the operation’s ability to change its level of output or activity to produce
different quantities or volumes of products and services over time.
Delivery flexibility – the operation’s ability to change the timing of the delivery of its services or
products.

COST
To the companies which compete directly on price, the cost will clearly be their major operations
objective. The lower the cost of producing their goods and services, the lower can be the price to
their customers. Even those companies which do not compete on price will be interested in keeping
costs low. Every pound removed from an operation’s cost base is a further pound added to its
profits. Therefore, low cost is a universally attractive objective.

All operations have an interest in keeping their costs as low as is compatible with the levels of
quality, speed, dependability, and flexibility that their customers require. The measure that is most
frequently used to indicate how successful an operation is at doing this is productivity. Productivity
is the ratio of what is produced by an operation to what is required to produce it.

Both the reduction of cost through internal effectiveness is as important as the focus on making
improvements to all the other operational objectives

and marketing a unique product or service – a product or service that is different in
some way to what a rival or competitor is offering. For this, you may have to spend a
lot for research and development, which you may not be able to afford if yours is a
small business. A successful differentiation strategy has the potential to lower price
sensitivity and better brand loyalty from customers.

Focus – Differentiation Focus and Cost Focus

If the business realizes that marketing to a homogenous customer niche would not be an effective
line of action for a particular product the business is selling, it can adopt the focus strategy. This
strategy involves the business tailoring its marketing endeavors and service to one or more select
customer segments and excluding the other segments.

There are two variants of the focus strategy. In cost focus, the aim of the business would be to have
an advantage over its competitors with respect to cost in its target segment. Thus, an electronics
store may have the aim of being the cheapest electronic store in a particular town but not essentially
the cheapest overall. A differentiation focus strategy takes advantage of the special needs of
consumers in specific segments and seeks differentiation by way of marketing its product as unique
in certain respects. For example, a company may bring out a product specifically designed for left-
handers.
