A. Content standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature
and other text types serve as means of valuing other people; also how to use
processing information strategies, different forms of adverbs and
conditionals for him/her to play an active part in a Chamber Theatre
presentation.

B. Performance Standards:
The learner proficiently plays an active part in a Chamber Theatre
presentation through employing effective verbal and non- verbal strategies
based on the following criteria:

Focus, Voice, Delivery, Facial Expressions, Style and Body Movements or


Gestures.

Divide the class into four groups after presenting some adverb of time. Let them use the
assign adverb to create a slogan about peace, education, environment and happiness.

Present the sentences with an adverb of place or location.
1. I wanted to go upstairs
2. She has lived in the city since June. (prepositional phrase)
What do the highlighted words tell us? (the place of the action)/ (It answers
the question where)
An adverb of place describes where something happens. Most adverb of place
are also used as preposition
B. Establishing Purpose of the Lesson:

At the end of the lesson the learners are expected to:

Some examples of adverb of place

Some adverb of place can express both movement and location at the same time.
1. The children came inside for dinner.
2. The water flowed downhill
3. They walked sideways to fit in the small space.
4. The birds flew northward.
5. I fell backward
6. She rolled downward.
Note: toward or towards is not an adverb. It is a preposition which always takes an object.
e.g He moved toward me.

E. Developing Mastery
Identify the adverb of place in the following sentences.
1.I looked everywhere.
2.They built a house nearby.
3.She took the child inside.
4.Come here.
5.Please go there and give them company.
6.The soldiers were standing outside of the gate.
7.The doctor saw infection inside the body.
8.They dug a hole under a tree.

F. Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living (ARTS)


In a bond paper, illustrate a most unforgettable place for you. Make a short description of that place.
Don’t forget to use an adverb of place.

Hints

We cannot use very with comparatives. However, we can use other words like much, far,
very much, a lot, lots etc. Superlatives can be modified by much, by far and by other adverbs
of degree such as quite.
