Session 3 RECAP:

The session starts with the heroes in the Yawning Portal after discussing the Trollskull Tavern plans with
Durnan. Durnan says he will have negotiations written up in the morning. They head to bed for the
night. Priza has a brief discussion with Meloon Wardragon. He seems normal this time, and when asked
about his previous mental lapse, he discusses a traumatic experience in Undermountain fighting a tribe
of Kuo-toa.

During the night, the door to Falros’s room bursts open. A well-armed man with weapon drawn storms
in and says, “Don’t move, I’ve...crap, wrong room.” The intruder then quickly exits. Falros hears him
barge into another room, accuse a man of sleeping with his wife, and then hears them fighting.

In the morning, the heroes eat breakfast. Illzur discovers that Malamus’s room has been broken into.
After investigating, he finds a note from Krentz the bandit. Krentz is the bandit they left tied up and
poopsy panted in the Xanathar Guild outpost. The note says that one of their contacts heard about the
150 gold that Volo promised them a few nights ago if they completed the rescue mission. Now that the
mission is over, the note says that they will exchange Malamus for the 150 gold. The note says not to
bring the watch, go to the sewer north of the Yawning Portal, and look for their contact. This contact
will lead them to Malamus.

Upon exiting the tavern, they run into a little girl named Esme. She hides behind Illzur’s leg yelling that
Valetta’s dog has gotten lose again. A large metal dog construct rushes towards them, and Illzur is
quickly able to disable one of the construct’s legs without destroying the dog.

A bronze dragon born named Valleta from the Temple of Gond appears. He thanks Illzur for not
destroying his construct, and weakly and unempathetically attempts to console Esme. He has a tall
animated wooden puppet man with him that he calls a nimblewright. The nimblewright named Nim,
proves to be incredibly strong as it picks up the heavy construct dog with ease.

They ask Valleta for directions and advice about the market. They also offer to sell him some of their
silver bars found in the Zhentarim warehouse. Valleta purchases two saying that he is giving them an
excellent deal as a thank you for not destroying his dog construct.

In the marketplace they meet Quintus and Margos who are two competing human art dealers. There is
a long and painful rivalry that Quintus states is from him winning Margos’s woman from him. After
Margos attempts to snatch the heroes’ business from Quintus and fails, Quintus proclaims, “I stole your
woman, and now I have also stolen your sale.”

They also meet Remy the jeweler. He buys some more silver bars from the adventurers. He gives them
a much larger price than Valetta, revealing that the dragonborn ripped them off. They also visited the
apothecary and met Liza the owner.

When approaching the sewer entrance, a woman falls into the street from the second story window in
front of the party and dies on impact. Soon after, the party notices a female hooded figure skillfully
dropping, uninjured, from another second story window facing into the alley. The figure quickly
disappears into a maze of side streets. The watch approaches and the party is able to convince them
that they are not responsible.
They heroes descend into the sewer into 2 feet thick of water and sludge. They are immediately
attacked by a giant crocodile. After a tough fight, a gazer appears. It magically emits Krentz’s voice, and
it leads them to a trap door about 10 feet above the sewer floor. Krentz tells them to open the door,
and to not do anything stupid. The party immediately attacks fighting the gazer, Krentz, a bandit, and a
wizard. The party kills the enemies except for Krentz who immediately surrenders.

The party rescues Malamus. The bard congratulates the party on finding him. He lets them know that
he bravely sacrificed himself to be kidnapped so the party could find and defeat these elusive bandits.

They agree to spare Krentz if he works for them. He quickly agrees. The heroes travel to Trollskull Alley.
Their building, Trollskull Manor and Tavern is in disrepair, but is still a sight to behold. Four stories tall
with a turret, this building was obviously quite the marvel in its heyday. The party enters the Trollskull
Tavern. Krentz immediately gets to work cleaning the incredibly messy tavern. The party encounter the
half-elf poltergeist named Lif who is the former owner of the tavern. The poltergeist does not speak and
gives the party a chilly reception. It communicates by writing in the dust on the tavern floor. It writes in
the dust that if the heroes repair the tavern, it will be friendly with them.

After this the half-orc Zhentarim Yagra Stonefist enters the tavern. She greets her friends Malamus and
Ilzur. With her is the hooded woman that dropped the lady from the building earlier. She looks at Ilzur,
drops her hood and says, “Hello brother.”
