Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am Mohammed Ahmed.

Every year about 200million people are impacted by natural disasters

and 99,000 of them get killed. Let us not got far for an example, I am
sure we all remember the hurricane that hit Squtra island, Almahra and
Hadrmoot. Which was also on its way to Aden, but thanks god it faded
away before reaching Aden. And This hurricane caused a lot of damage,
especially in SQUTRA and Almahra. Due to that, my presentation topic is
(Ready for anything). And in it I am about to explain advises and steps
will help us be ready for any kind of emergencies.

There are many kinds of emergency situations but, I determined the

most serious emergencies that you must be ready for them. And these
are rather a political situation like war, or natural disasters like what I
said before hurricanes, floods and earthquake.

So now how can we be ready?

Ready for anything
Firstly, stock up on emergency supplies. First you should keep enough
food and water for at least three days in your house. Choose food that
can be stored for a long time and food that can be eaten without
cooking. Canned food such as soup, tuna, meat, and fruit are good
choices. Beside the canned food, it is good to keep a variety of food in
stock, such like vegetables, grains, dairy(milk and cheese),and those will
give us a balanced diet and keep us healthy and well-fed. you can also
store dry food like crackers and cookies. Be sure to store food that you
like and include a few special treats like candy or nuts. In an emergency
situations, it is nice to have something to cheer you up. If you have
babies or elderly people in your family, remember to include any special
food that they need. Then be sure keep plenty of water. Each person
needs 4 liters of water per day for drinking and basic washing. If you can
store more water, do so. But make sure that any water you use for
drinking, washing, or preparing food is not contaminated. Anything with
bad taste or odor should be avoided, as it may cause diseases like
dysentery, cholera or typhoid.

In addition think about the equipment you might need for the kinds of
emergency that happen in your country. You might need blankets, warm
clothes, matches boxes, flashlights, plastic bags and first aid kit which is
the most important equipment. Think about possible situations, and buy
things that would be needed.

Finally, for many emergency situations, staying home is the best bet. At
home you are secure and you are comfortable. However, there are
those time when staying home isn’t the safest solution. And when it
comes to having to evacuate your home, you need to plan what you will
do. Decide where you will go. It is good to arrange a meeting place in
advance such as a relative's home or a big public building. Also plan a
way to contact other family members if you became separated.
Eventually, we don’t like to think about natural disasters or war, but
remember no matter where we live, we are susceptible to emergencies
and disaster, and the only way to get through them is to be prepared. A
little bit of preparation can save ourselves and families from the
unexpected. We must know our risks, know what you need to do and be
able to act upon it.
