ON IMPORTANT disassembly

• to avoid popping noises: these are the mechanical points, and they really need • take off the antennas. manual
FIRST switch the unit on via power, care. the threads will last long if being treated well. • unscrew the stand/tripod.

anyhow - tuning is not too hard once you are used to it, thus it pitch readjustment
might be more comfortable to adjust by the inductors especially if • pitch knob in middle position
the needed work on the opened unit might be more complex. • switch on both the theremin and the amp
volume readjustment • try to be away as far as possible from the pitch rod
if the attack does not respond well. • with the adjustment tool very slightly turn inductor P1 so
• attack knob in CCW position. that the pitch will rise or lower a little
• switch on both the theremin and the amp. • now play and test it. keep on refining until the zero beat
• try to be away as far as possible from the loop antenna. will be in the desired position.
• with the adjustment tool very slightly turn inductor V1 adjustment tool • also possible to decrease or increase the overall playable
until the volume will become loudest. .. is screwed in here. range (and linearity) by turning both inductors:
• now find the point when the volume is about to drop. be careful when using it, there both CCW: lowering
this is the point! play and maybe refine it. is no need of force. both CW: rising (be careful, do not screw in P1 completly)

• the softer the setting, the more decent the highest
volume.

dac = dynamic attack control
with the pizzicato / normal knob the dac can be adjusted.
normally the theremins volume simply is a fixed
relationship of the hands distance to the loop antenna.
with the dac-feature the thereminist is able to play
pizzicatos. dac reacts on the velocity of the hands
movements.
try it out: rotate the knob to the pizzicato setting. locate
your hand near the loop (where no sound is audible), the
flip your hand quickly for just a centimeter up and down:
a fast attack and fast decay will be heard. the pizzicato!
depending on the attack setting the pizzicato can be
louder than the highest volume (which depends on the
attack setting also).

a good bass or guitar amp is
recommended. if higher output is
needed it would be best for the
noise/signal ratio to firstly increase
gain and then volume.

pitch preview (phones) DC in send return • wave: roughly three sections:
another VCA, but in reverse working .. can be seen as splitting the theremin 2 1+3: various settings of rich harmonics.

timbre.. in general..
.. adjustments behave in a not so common way. it is an
interaction of voice-, color- and (mostly) wave-settings. the
resulting timbre unfortunately is not really predictable (like
e.g. turning a distortion knob gives more distortion) because
waveshaping happens by biasing of one pitch oscillators
buffer. this product then is rectified (voice) and once again
biased by a following buffer (color)..
this way of waveshaping seemed to be more intriguing. but
one has to get used to the voicematic 3.
maybe you could see it like this: the hidden features to
mod/tweak the sound are available to the player.
