CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding on how world literature and other text types serve as
ways of expressing and resolving personal conflicts and also how to use strategies in linking textual
information, repairing, enhancing communication, public speaking, emphasis markers in persuasive
texts, different forms of modals, reflexive and intensive pronouns.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The learner composes a short but powerful persuasive text using a variety of techniques and
devices.
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
A. (Knowledge) Explain how the elements (PLOT) specific to a genre contribute to the
theme of a particular literary selection.
B. (Skill) Sequence and locate the elements of the plot in the story read.
C. (Attitude) Realize how the elements of the plot contribute towards the full
understanding of the text.

Watching a video clip, an excerpt from the love story of Orpheus and Eurydice
2. Discussion
One of the elements of a short story is the PLOT. The plot refers to the sequence
of events in certain narrative fiction. It has five elements that constitute to forming
a meaningful story. These are: EXPOSITION, FALLING ACTION, CLIMAX, RISING
ACTION, and RESOLUTION.

Arrange the plot of the story “Orpheus” by identifying the major events according
to the specific element it refers to.

Fact or Bluff (Definition of Plot and the Parts of the Plot)
Directions: Each member of the group will be asked if the statement to be read by
the group leader is a fact or a bluff. Bluff answers will be clarified after the game.
Statements will be provided by the teacher.
Group 2
Minute to Win It
The teacher will project misspelled words taken from the lesson “Plot and Its
Elements.” In one minute, members must be able to guess the right words as
projected on the screen.
4. Abstraction/Valuing
ABSTRACTION: What is a plot? Why is it important to include all the elements of
the plot in a story?
5. Evaluation
(INTEGRATION) Watch the video clip and prepare a timeline by arranging the
events which happened in the story. Below the timeline, write the moral it wants
to impart to the readers. Follow the sample timeline below.
