Clinical

A Certified Peer Specialist is a person who has not only lived the experience of mental illness
and/or substance use disorder but also has had formal training in the peer specialist model
of mental health and/or substance use disorder supports. They use their unique set of
recovery experiences in combination with solid skills training to support peers who are living
with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Peer Specialists actively incorporate peer
support into their work while working within an agency's team support structure as a defined
part of the recovery team.
A Certified Peer Specialist is not a mental health or substance use disorder technician but is
an active participant on the consumer’s treatment and recovery team.

identifying and minimizing potential problems.

Inpatient Behavioral Health unit is a short stay stabilization unit which treats Adolescents
( up to 18yrs), Adults, and Geriatrics.
The patients admitted to the Inpatient Behavioral Health unit presents with mental illnesses
such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, depression, substance
induced mood disorder, personality disorders, and substance abuse.
The services, treatments, procedures, and activities provided to the patients on the
Inpatient Behavioral Health unit include, but are not limited to: psychiatric evaluation,
nursing assessment, psychosocial assessment, activity therapy, group counseling, medication
management (monitoring, review, and education), and discharge planning.
Provides direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Provides leadership
for the nursing team, and contributes to the education of a variety of members of the staff
and students
