I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of : how gases behave based
A. Content Standards
on the motion and relative distances between gas particles.
B. Performance Standards N/A
The learners will be able to
1. Investigate the relationship between:
1.1 volume and pressure at constant temperature of a gas
a. Define the characteristics of gases (pressure, volume,
C. Learning Competencies/ temperature)
Objectives b. Interpret the relationship of volume and pressure at the constant
(Write the LC code) temperature
c. Relate some real life example of volume and pressure by real life
examples.

6. Temperature
7. Pressure
8. Volume
B. Establishing a purpose for ENGAGE
the lesson Students will be able to recall their experiences on Grade 9 about the mechanism of
how Lungs expand and contract.
C. Presenting Everyone will inhale then, exhale!
examples/instances of the What have you observe when you inhale?
new lesson What have you observe when you exhale?
Materials: 25 ml syringe, set of stones, ruler, glue stick, 5’’ by 3” illustration board,
candle or glue gun.
Procedure:
1. Fill the syringe with air by pulling the plunger. See to it that the volume reading is
approximately 25.0 Ml.
2. Seal the opening of the syringe with the melted glue stick.
E. Discussing new concepts
3. Bore a hole that is very close to the size of the opening of the syringe I a 6” by 4”
and practicing new skills #2
flat wood. Screw the wood on a stable object. Insert in an upright position the
sealed part of the syringe in the hole of the wood, be sure it is sturdy.
4. Paste a 5” by 3” illustration board at the end of the plunger. This will serve as the
holder of the weights. You have just prepared a boyles law apparatus.
5. Carefully place a 200-gram eight on the holder and get the volume reading.
6. Place one at a time different weights to the plunger. If you do not have set of
weights, you may use books of the same kind. Be sure to get the mass of each book.
7. Record the mass and volume reading using the table. 1(refer on the activity
sheet)
