Girl Scouts

Heart of Central California

2018–19 Membership Year Events
WELCOME
Whether you are looking for troop trips, seeking help in completing a badge or journey, or signing up for training, we have
activities for you! By visiting the ACTIVITIES tab on the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California (GSHCC) website (girlscoutshcc.
org), you will find new resources to support you in your upcoming Girl Scout year. Check out Activities-at-a-Glance for an easy
reference grid: grade-level specifications for activity participation, council approval requirements, and instructor credentialing
(i.e., required certification/experience).

Other areas to explore:

• More to Explore https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/en/activities/explore.html

— Badge and journey work offered by community partners that troops can schedule independently.

• Get Local https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/en/activities/local.html

— Community service opportunities and a place for Service Units to advertise upcoming events. Go to https://www.
girlscoutshcc.org/en/our-council/forms-and-documents/get-local-request.html to post your events.

• Approved Outfitters https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/en/activities/approved-outfitter.html

– Did you know that some activities require the use of an Approved Outfitter? An Approved Outfitters are locations,
facilities and/or specific high adventures that have completed GSHCC’s approval process. They meet Girl Scouts of the
United States of America (GSUSA) safety and insurance requirements and are ready to work with you and your troop.
We are always on the lookout for new opportunities to bring to our girls and volunteers. To request vendors and/or
activities to be approved and added to the list, please submit the Approved Outfitter Vendor Request Form.

• Safety First!
– GSHCC considers the safety of our girls, volunteers and staff at all times. By providing risk management guidelines
such as Safety Activity Checkpoints (SAC) and Volunteer Essentials, GSHCC ensures the safety of everyone involved
is clearly defined and communicated. SAC is a resource that provides safety standards and guidelines for GSUSA–
approved activities. The 2018 edition of the SAC has been reformatted, edited and expanded to better serve our
service units and troops. Find what’s new: https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/content/dam/girlscouts-girlscoutshcc/

TIPS AND TRICKS

Haven’t explored the Activities web pages yet? Here are some tips and tricks to help you get started.

Where do I go to register for upcoming activities?

All GSHCC council staff-led events require online registration can be found here: https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/en/activities/
activities-list.html. Log into your MyGS account and navigate to the “Activities” tab to find the activity and register.

When are new events posted to the Activities List?

Updates will be posted by the second week of each month, three to four months in advance of the activity. New events are
added as exciting new opportunities become available to Girl Scouts.

Can I use Troop Treasure for GSHCC activities?

Yes! To use Troop Treasure for activities, Customer Care will have to process the payment manually: call to register and make
the payment over the phone at 800.322.4475.

How do I get confirmation of my registered activities?

Upon completion of the registration process, you will see a detailed receipt on your screen. This is your activity registration
confirmation. If you do not see a detailed receipt on your screen, the registration process is not complete. To view events you
are registered for, log in to MyGS and click on the MyActivities tab. Note: if your troop leader registers for the activity, only the
leader will see the confirmation in their MyGS. If families register their Girl Scout, only they will see the confirmation in MyGS.
How will I receive event information letters?
Information letters will be emailed to the individual who registered two weeks before the event. At that time, the information
letter is also available in the event profile in your MyGS account. Log in to your MyGS account, click on the information icon
next to the event, and you will see a link to the information letter and any other event information.

Is financial assistance available for GSHCC activities?

Yes! Financial assistance is available to those with financial hardship. To request financial assistance, please proceed to
register for your desired activities, and click the “Financial Assistance” box at the time of check out. Next, you will receive an
email with the link to the financial assistance request form.
Note: Only individuals can request financial assistance, troops cannot request financial assistance on behalf of their
members.

What happens if I need to cancel my registration?

Can’t make it? Submit an email to Customer Care to let them know, and a refund will be processed, within the policy
parameters. For full cancellation and refund details, visit our website: https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/en/activities/activities-
list.html

What if I would like to volunteer to support one of the events on the Activities Calendar?
Volunteers are instrumental in bringing many GSHCC programs to life. Visit www.bitly.com/GSHCCvolunteers to see if the
event you’re interested in needs event support volunteers.
