ABSTRACT

TITLE: Problems and the Need for Achievement of

Millennial School in Academic Performances

This study was conducted to reveal the problems and need

for achievement of millennial school youths in their academic

standing inside the school premises including juvenile actions

and leissure. To concretely promulgate the problems of

millennial school youths which may leads into their academic

poorness, in this regards, the researchers started to propose

this study to be able to convey the voices of the school youths

including their individual views about the educational system in

three selected schools of Bobon, that researcher had conducted.

To clearly manifest their insights and to determine if the

school youths in this area had the same problems in academe as

to the problems of most millennial school youths here in the

philippines.

To begin this study the profile of the respondents were

tested in terms of gender, age, and educational level; to imply

if there is a relationship between the demographic profile of

the respondents to the problems in their academic performances.

This will follow to the items attached in the questionnaire to

measure and identify if there are variances of problems among

millennial school youth in Bobon. In the final phase, the data

gather related to the findings of this study will be properly

analyzed and interpreted using the statiscal treatment of data.

This study was conducted in three selected schools in

Bobon, specifically in Eladio T. Balite Memorial School for

Fisheries (ETBMSF), Bobon School for Philippine Craftsmen

(BSPC), and Asia College in Advance Studies in Arts, Sciences

and Technology Inc., (ACASAST). The researcher used the

stratified random sampling method and came up with 50 permitted

respondents, 15 respondents in BSPC and ETBMSF, 20 respondents

in ACASAST. There were two variable in this study, namely:

profile of the respondents and the problems in academic

performances. This study was also used descriptive-correlation

research design.

The data gathering instrument used was a questionnaire,

which was designed by the researcher with the help of the

adviser and some research experts to ensure its validity and

reliability. The questionnaire contained the basic information

of the respondents and the second part of the questionnaire was

29 statements categorized in 9 items which dealt on the problems

and the reason for the inactiveness of millennial school youth

in academic.

Statistical tools used were the frequency counts and

percentage, weighted mean, and chi-square.

It appeared that most of the respondents (28 or 56 percent)

belonged to the 15-18 years old bracket, implying that most of

the respondents were in the youngest ages; the gender of the

respondents shows that female respondents outnumbered the male

repondents, female got the frequency and percentage of (28 or 56

percent) while the male respondents got (22 or 44), for the fact

that female respondents were easy to approach and much more

cooperative; Most of the respondents shows according to the

distribution of the questionnaire in study area that Senior High

School fully participated for it has the frequency and

percentage of (23 or 46 percent), High School got (14 or 28

percent) while college level got (13 or 26 percent).

The results showed three things, namely: school youth in

three selected school in Bobon, were aware for the possible

consequences arise if they don’t focus in their academic

performance; that there is no significant problems and need for

achievement of millennial school youths in academic performances

in selected school of Bobon, province of Northern Samar and

there is no significant relationship between demographic

profiles of the respondents to the problems and need for

achievement in academic performances.
