Framework/Structure Breaking apart the problem into key factors/buckets,

forming a hypothesis to test. MECE. Shows direction
and understanding of the question asked.
Driving the case Showing direction and purpose in your approach.
Takes the lead but is still coachable. Seeks to test
hypotheses and makes it evident to interviewer
Asking questions Asking about key business aspects, understanding
context (initial structuring). Knows when to ask for data.
Asks for clarification while providing educated guesses
Synthesizing Combining the results of analyses into higher order
insights. Goes back to previous analyses to form a
wholistic recommendation.
Conclusion Formulating a cohesive recommendation + providing
support. Crisp closure should include Problem, Rec,
Analysis, Risks, Implementation (PRARI)
Cadence Balancing different parts of the case / not getting
bogged down. Is able to move from high level
discussions to calculations and back again
Brainstorming Ideating on a variety of options + causes and grouping
them. Brainstorming occurs during initial structuring, but
also throughout the case (i.e., what else can we do?)
Creative Insights Leveraging past experiences to add insights beyond
the written letter of the case – putting themselves in the
client’s shoes, thinking critically etc.
Coachability Able to take direction from the interviewer. Ability to
read the cues of the interviewer to course-correct as
necessary. Can think on their feet.
Presence Confidence, conversational cases. Candidate shows
their own personal “style” and flair in the case. The
interaction is MEMORABLE.
Math (Accuracy + Speed) Clearly laying out + talking through calculations before
diving in. Calculating values correctly. Using tricks and
shortcuts to simplify math.
Data (organization + insights) Interprets exhibits and begins pulling out insights.
Proactively seeks to calculate metrics to derive
additional insights. Seeks the “so what” of exhibits.
