Nursing medicine

A higher position in the health care field means a greater opportunity to help the needy and
promote health and wellness in every individual. If you have been in an entry-level healthcare
career, like a phlebotomist, for example, there is definitely a way for you to step out of your limited
zone and enter a wider scope of practice by being a nurse or a physician. You should, however,
remember that becoming a physician or a nurse requires more of your dedication and effort as
healthcare field personnel. It may not be an easy journey but if serving the sick is your real passion,
this venture is quite fulfilling.

From entry-level to higher professional

Although most professional practitioners in the healthcare field directly go into universities to
complete nursing or medical studies, some opt to start entry-level healthcare careers first before
moving on into a higher position. Starting as an entry-level professional such as being a phlebotomist
before completing a medical or nursing degree has a lot of advantages. Aside from learning through
actual experiences and not from theoretical books, you can also develop the heart of serving the sick
as you spend your hours in hospital settings. After realizing that you really want to provide help to
the sick, you are now completely ready to start and finish your nursing or medical degree.

How can an entry-level professional become a nurse or a physician?

Entry-level positions have limited scope in the healthcare field since they are given limited training
only. In order to get into a higher position, you will have to complete the degree of Medicine or
Nursing. This means that you have to enrol into a university and complete the course.

It usually takes 4 years to complete Nursing or Medical Degree depending on several factors. After
completing the degree, you may undergo higher education for specialization. Specializations take a
few years.

In order to practice nursing or medicine in the hospital, you will also have to pass the professional
licensure examination required in your region. Passing the exam is your first stepping stone into
becoming a full-fledged professional.

Why should I go for nursing or medicine?

There are hundreds of reasons why you should consider becoming a nurse or a physician after
experiencing being a phlebotomist or any other entry-level health care professional. Aside from
personal reasons, the following are the benefits of going for higher profession in the healthcare
field:

1. More cases to deal with

If you are a phlebotomist all your life, you will only experience drawing blood and placing them into
containers. You will never get to experience how it is to deal with treating disorders just as the
physicians and nurses do. If you become a physician or a nurse, you can treat the patient through
medical procedures by your own hand.

2. More salary
As everybody knows, nurses and physicians receive higher salaries than entry-level professionals.
Although the job may be more difficult, you will have more when pay day comes.

3. Different activities in a day

Nurses and physicians deal with different patients having different needs everyday. Unlike a
phlebotomist, they provide overall care to patients, thus, they do varying activities in a day. By being
a nurse or a physician, hospital life will never be boring.

Dreaming is good but being able to actualize your dream is so much better. Go for nursing or
medical education now and experience the difference.
