III. Procedure:
TEACHERS ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
A. Daily Routine
1. Greetings
-Good Morning Class! -Good Morning Sir!
2. Checking of Attendance
-First Group, who is absent for today’s activity? -Sir! In our group, nobody is absent.

-Very Good! How about the next group? -There is no absent in our group sir.

-Very Good also! How about the third group? -From the third group sir, no one is absent.
3. Review of the lesson
-Last meeting we discuss the different kinds of tools. Can -Sir, measuring tools (Group 1)
you give some examples of it in making the batter board?
-Testing tools, tooth cutting tools Sir (Group 2)
-Very Good Answer Group 1. Let’s hear from Group 2
-Sir, driving tools and edge cutting tools (Group
-Ok! Very Good also. And from the Group 3? 3)

-Very Good! Ok Class, we will now proceed to our new -Yes, Sir!
lesson but before that, I will check first your assignment.

-Did you bring the following materials? (By Group) -Yes, Sir!

B. Motivation
The teacher shows the blue print for a batter board.
-What can you see about the drawing? -Sir, it contains the different parts of a house and
it has a dimension.

-Nice answer! How about the others? -It has a batter board Sir for construction.
-Yes, very good! So our lesson for today is making a batter
board.

C. Lesson Proper
-What are the two types of batter board? -Sir! Single and double batter board.

- Batter boards for foundation posts may be either joined by

continuous pieces surrounding the site of foundation or by
individual piece for each foundation.

- Batter boards for the foundation walls are either single or

double batter boards which are placed at corner.

-Correct! What is a batter board? -A horizontal board placed at the corner and at
the side of the building.

-What are the tools used in making batter board? -Measuring tools, cutting and driving tools, Sir.

-Can you give me the proper PPE used in making batter board? -Hard hat, safety shoes, goggles and hand
gloves, Sir!

The teacher will assign a leader for each group. After that,
before the activity the teacher will demonstrate the procedure
in making batter board. The students will read each procedure.

-Kindly read the step as I demonstrate to you the proper -Step 1. Determine the height of the foundation
procedure. at any of the four corners of the proposed
(Perform step 1) building. Set the stakes at 0.75 to 1 m away from
the pre-determined building lines, preferably
where the grade stake is.

(Perform step 2) -Step 2. In this corner, drive a stake as high as

the desired height of the foundation.

(Perform step 3) -Step 3. Drive in set of posts for the batter boards
3 feet away from the corners and along the sides.
Drive in the posts firmly. Align these posts with
a string.

(Perform step 4) -Step 4. Move the height of the foundation from

the stakes to the corner post of the batter board.
This is done by stretching a string, leveled with
spirit level or level bar from the stake to the post.

(Perform step 5) -Step 5. From the mark of this post, stretch out a
string going around the corners of the building
and passing at the side of the batter board posts.

(Perform step 6) -Step 6. Level this string with a spirit level or

level bar. Stretch the string tight. Start leveling
from the corner stake where the height of the
foundation is established. Recheck the
levelness.
(Perform step 7) -Step 7. Mark batter board posts along the line
just leveled. These marks are places for the top
of the batter boards.

(Perform step 8) -Step 8. Nail the batter boards in place, the

straight side up and at the marks of the posts.
IV. Evaluation
The 3 groups will now perform the procedure in making batter. The teacher will give and discuss the criteria
for assessment.
