Steps and Timelines for Completing the Project

Successfully completion of the DNP project is fundamental in the DNP doctoral study.

There are key step crucial steps that should be followed to complete the DNP project. The first

step is reviewing the DNP Project Process Guide before starting the first course (Auerbach et al.,

2015). Secondly, start NURS 8110 (Scientific Foundations for Nursing) which involves

developing a problem statement, reviewing project process manual, and planning (Auerbach et

al., 2015). Thirdly, nominate the chair in Week 6 of NURS 8810 (Auerbach et al., 2015). The

fourth step is reviewing the DNP project prospectus guide, rubric, and template. Fifthly, register

and work in DNP Project Mentoring classroom (NURS 8700). The seventh step is working your

chair when you are ready to submit your final draft of your prospectus into MyDR. After the

prospectus approval, repeat steps five and six to complete the proposal. The next step is

preparing for and presenting Oral Defense of the proposal. Once the chair has uploaded the

proposal for URR review in MyDR, begin the ethics review process with IRB by completing

Form A. The student should then conduct a study and collect data. Also, complete sections 4 and

5 with the chair’s feedback. After the final paper is approved, complete the Form and Style

process. Then schedule, prepare for and attend the Final Oral Defense. Finally, submit the final

project final with abstract to chair, member, and URR for CAO approval. The student should also

submit the approved study for publication in Pro Quest/UMI (Chism, 2017).

There are some resources which are essential to students for reference. The students

should refer to DNP Project Process Guide before starting the project. During the Scientific

Foundations for Nursing study, resources such as clinical Practice Guidelines Manual, Staff

Education Manual, Quality Improvement Evaluation Manual, and Systematic Review Manual

are necessary. Other important resources for the project are Faculty list, Committee Chair

Nomination Form, Project Prospectus Guide, DNP templates, and DNP Minimum Standards

Rubric. The project should end within the appropriate timeline provided by the instructor.

Purpose of the DNP Project

The primary goal of the DNP project is to enable the participants to participate at the

highest level of clinical nursing practice (Moran et al., 2016). The project tests the capabilities of

students in the final project. The goal of this project is to enhance expertise in reflective practice,

expertise in the student’s area of interest, independent practice inquiry, and ability to evaluate,

translate, and use research evidence in promoting clinical nursing practice, organizational and

systems leadership skills, and knowledge of advanced healthcare policy, ethics, and law. The

DNP project focuses on helping the students translate the acquired knowledge into practice to

improve the quality of health services. The project also focuses on transformations which affect

healthcare outcomes, implementing the appropriate area of practice, including sustainability

plan, integrate an evaluation process, and involve systems (,micro-level, mseo-level, or macro-

level) of population focus (Walvoord, 2018).

Project of Interest

I would be interested in conducting a project on consequences, prevention, and treatment

of childhood overweight and obesity. To complete this project, I will follow DNP’S step by step

guideline’s to completing a project. I will develop a proper project plan that will guide men

throughout the project to avoid wasting resources on unnecessary activities. Moreover, I will

perform budget estimation to prevent financial inconveniences during the project. My focus will

also be on the problem statement. I will develop a good research question and purpose of the

study so that the whole project remains relevant. The project will involve a random selection of

areas to conduct the investigation. Data collection process will be restricted to collecting only the

information pertinent to avoid time wastage on unnecessary items.
